i have trouble choosing between jojo mayer ,steve smith and billy cobham. also guys like aaron spears blow my mind .. horacio hernandez , AKIRA JIMBO . steve smith to me is the best at all these styles . latin , jazz , prog ..while the others are one or two trick ponies .. thoughts ?
My best drummers list is very long, but since we are in the jazz forum, I could probably condense it to maybe 3 pages. Ahaha anyway here are a few: Roy Haynes, Max Roach, Al Foster, Tony Williams, Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, Elvin Jones, Elvin Jones, Louie Bellson. I mean there are lots more of course. Yeah Bozzio is deff my favorite. In that vein, Thomas Lang as well. Also Todd Sucherman, who played with Styx and Brian Wilson (two pretty different artists), and Jojo Mayer (his early stuff is very Bozzio-like in the thematicism).
