I've concluded that any movie that's a "box office hit" is usually pretty lame. So what are some good movies that weren't very popular? My picks are:
    1. City of Lost Children
    2. Arizona Dream
    3. The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (sooo gross, but good ...if you don't mind watching naked guys getting force-fed dog poop)

"gummo" and "tales of the city" are two of my favorites

funny thing.. about 4 years ago i went into my local video store and asked if they had "gummo"
the lady said "no, we never have and NEVER will care that movie" .. they have it now

    Everyone has heard of those.

My fave would have to be The Color of the Night w/ Bruce Willis.

The Seventh Seal, its a really famous foreign film, not alot of people no of it in the Americas. Unless you've watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Hedwig kinda frightened me! The Velocity of Gary was nice. Gia was cool too, i dont know many people here who have heard of it.

    And Empire Records rocks!!!11one1

I like The Virgin Suicides a lot too... it was well known in its time, but nowadays it seems no-one can recall it.

You guys have great taste! Virgin Suicides, Hedwig, Empire Records.. love'em all!

My all time "secret movie" fav would have to be "Dead Man". It's this black and white western type flick, but it stars Johnny Depp and was filmed in '96! Crispin Glover is in it too, if that is any indication of it's off-beatness. Oh, and Iggy Pop plays a cross-dresser, and Billy Bob Thorton is his good friend. There is also this Native character whose name is Exsabachea, which translates to Nobody. lol.

It's not easy to find in my area of the world, but if you stumble upon it check it out!

omg, I can't believe someone else has seen that one. How about Michael Wincott (from The Crow) as the hired killer who won't shut up? "J'ever wonder why the sun doesn't go down all at once? Like, what if it just suddenly went dark. That'd be weird." LMAO!
