^^^ I wore the grooves off my vinyl of Bridge of Sighs back in High school. Great vocalist too. My top three is easy, it gets more difficult after that... 1. Jimi Hendrix 2. Frank Zappa 3. Jeff Beck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25q8nWZQGaQ
1) Hendrix 2) David Gilmour 3) Robert Fripp 4) Michael Karoli (Can) 5) Manuel Gottsching (Ash Ra Tempel)
I also have a soft spot for Richie Blackmore and Jimi Hendrix. But my favourites are not focussed primarily on technique but mainly on what they came up with. That's why Tony Iommi is also in my top 3.
Ill add couple more.. Roy Buchanan Uli Jon Roth Dave Murray Snowy White Doyle Bramhall John Frusciante
I don't really have a top 5 and I know there are plenty of greats but my top three are Garcia, Gilmour, Knopfler.
He's probably my earliest blues influence. One of my first concerts too. A true Bluesman. RIP More greats; Allan Holdsworth Adrian Belew Steve Vai
Honestly it's hard to pick one because they play music yeah but that's it to me, I don't know musicians lives, I don't care either so it's hard to answer. I chose Kirk because I knew his first name. I couldn't name band members from even my favorite bands, I just don't care. Music b4 members for me.
I gotcha, it's ok...if you enjoy the music it's all good. It's Kirk Hammett BTW, and many consider him a fine guitarist. I was just flaming you a little.
Where it comes to Metallica many people are proclaiming a lot of love for their first bass player (and so do I). Great player and also wrote some killer songs (especially the instrumental parts).
Hendrix Slash STR When it comes to bass players my pick would be Lemmy. Raise the mike stand up high and turn all the knobs to right. That shit is pure evil, man.
