So what is your favorite Grateful Dead song & why?

I love Friend of the Devil because that is the first song my husband and I danced to when we got married. It was in the community rose garden at night when we were going for a walk just the two of us. We bumped into a small accoustic old hippie band and told them about our day and they said they would play a song in honor of the special day. Friend of the Devil came out and its been meaningful ever since.

    Touch of Grey.

Anyhow, there's an entire Grateful Dead subforum in "Music".

off the list, I say Terrapin Station ... no doubt of their 'more' magical jams. But I choose just cause so many times JerryG goes WiLllLD on it.

But reading down through them LoveMinx has a point ... Franklin's Tower and freeinalaska has dead taste too ... Help on the Way and China Cat especially

also Standing on the Moon, every Dylan cover, Californication, and Venice Queen are all good ones ... right?

    it's a jam, man, c'mon

don't get critical, it's a song, it has music and lyrics, it fits the definition of a song
it's a great piece of music, if calling it that makes you feel better.

since dark star counts for this thread, I'd say The Eleven Jam is #1 Dead song

I also love Mountains of the Moon, plus all the others I already mentioned

    plus, all the rest
