I like that one with Nicole Kidman where she's got curly hair and she and a bunch of other kids are in like a bicycle gang I dunno what it's called
BLISS. There''s an american film called Bliss, but the Aussie one was very good and it's not every day you get to see an elephant sit on a Volkswagon! Tracks was another good one. I've seen a lot of Aussie films mentioned , but thanks for the ones I haven't ---I'll check them out. (daughter just married an Aussie--his gramma is full aborigine.)
I remember seeing the 1971 film "WALKABOUT" with ex-Railway child Jenny Agutter - Girl / Luc Roeg/Lucien John - Boy / David Gulpilil - Aborigine = ( Walkabout (film) - Wikipedia ) I remember it, a harsh/coming to terms and a rather sad (ending) film - but one which has stayed in the memory since
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was a real hoot. A girl in Adelaide sent me the Blu Ray - a bit maudlin, a bit funny, a bit tawdry, a bit slapstick, interesting and whacky characters
Those two are absolute classics of the first order - including George Zamfir's haunting Andean pipes soundtrack (although it can be a tad cloying at times). Both movies are superior and haunting
Aussie comedies are THE BEST. Especially the ones about rock bands, music or dance Strictly Ballroom Razzle Dazzle Garage Days The Wannabes Thunderstruck Moulin Rouge Scifi: Dark City Until the End of the World (German director, but most of it was filmed in Australia) Drama: The Proposition Heavenly Creatures (if NZ counts)
I liked "Crocodile Dundee"! The OP mentioned it. There are some things that are timeless and irreplaceable, like "Crocodile Dundee". That was from 1986, but I probably didn't see it then (I would have been six). Those were the coolest movies! but everyone probably thinks that about the movies when they were a kid.
By Peter Weir .....PAHR is a real cool OZ film and it's a true story despite what some ignorant critics and "experts" believe
Another one of my fav OZ movies is Alvin Purple.....Graeme Blundell is great Aussie actor Check it out on YT
