Wasn’t sure where to post or ask this question: So figured: Why not just confess it and say that I like Europe? So now that I’ve confessed My love for Europe: I’d like to ask: What about yourself? What is your favorite “European Country”??? Me personally, I like a lot of them so can’t really just narrow it all down to one specific country? But I do like Ireland, UK, Germany, Italy, and Austria for starters. I know a lot of my friends I talk to have roots or heritage in these countries so I’d say those would make my “Top 5 European Countries” for sure!!! I’d also maybe mention Wales or Scotland: But wouldn’t put those on my Top 5 list!!! Now your turn to “confess”!!! What’s your favorite European Country?
Wow?? Absolutely nothing from nobody?? Guess HipForums must not really give a Dam about Europe??? Well okay!! Sorry I asked then!!
I've been to Greece, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and UK. Out of those, I'd say I enjoyed Spain, Greece, Netherlands and Sweden the most and that's where I spent most of my time over the decades.
The Netherlands were a blast, seemed like an endless party. Spain was my next favorite for good times, good food, fun explorations and culture. The cannabis was better in The Netherlands, but things may have changed.
We enjoyed the variously countries in Europe we visited but the wonderful Portugal spring driving trip between Lisbon and the Algarve was a relaxing favorite.
One of my favorite drives in Spain was up through the mountains from Marbella, to Ronda, an ancient city perched on a cliff. Awesome! Then on to the west and down to Cadiz... beautiful country.
Austria, but I’m biased. My Ma is from there and is still a citizen. I root for Austrians in the Winter Olympics!
Your second post wondered why you didn’t receive quick replies . I’m responding to that by saying the idea of “confessing” to liking Europe is confusing, to me, anyway. Does your social group think you’re supposed to not like Europe? This post seems to belong in a travel category, not confessions. Putting “European countries“ in quotation marks is also confusing. There really are European countries, it’s not something we say just because we can’t think of a better term. I’m just being honest. If you hadn’t made the second post questioning why there were no prompt replies I wouldn’t have commented, again because the original post confused me.
I'm not overly bothered by the wording here. Some people are, um, challenged by...syntax and grammar and punctuation, oh my! More telling, to me, is the next-day post with its accusations. That's often a troll tactic. Not saying you're a troll, Xbox, just that that is a troll tactic. It's not like that was a question calling for urgent responses. ??? In any case... Norway! Lofoten! Where I have relatives.
I've never been to Europe, and my family immigrated here in 1700, so I'm pretty thoroughly Americanized. I'd simply pick the places that are the happiest; the Nordic countries. You know; the places where the evils of Socialism have enslaved the population, devastated their economies, and ruined everything. (The U.S., the bastion of unfettered Capitalism, ranks 23rd. Go figure.) Happiest Countries in the World 2024
Worked in Spain and France. Been in Italy, Greece and Cyprus and of course being Scottish I have ample opportunity to visit the other 3 UK countries. As regards travel I much prefer further afield where I am exposed to unknown language and culture. As said above I was also worried by the quotation marks.
I hear ya, but still don't feel the same energy about it. It feels like a person escaped a shitstorm, ended up in Europe, and now loves the fuck out of that fact and that part of the world. He's still working on his English, and the !!!s and ???s and ""s are just an awkward and unrefined use of the written side of English. Just my thoughts. But then there is that second post...
