foreign films or independent films are the best! I've seen many french films, southamerican, spanish..etc etc City of God (brazilian) was one of the best I seen. great film!
What's considered as foreign film? A film that's not American? Anyhooh.. I really liked City of God as well, it's brilliant. AmeliƩ is lovely and so is this Finnish film, HelmiƤ ja Sikoja. There are so many good ones...
Nikita(Fr) The Good, The Bad And The Ugly(It) Seven Samurai(Jp) Cinema Paradiso(It) Brotherhood of the Wolf(Fr) Nosferatu(Ge) The Battleship Potemkin(?Ru) The Red Lantern(Ch) El Mariachi(Mx)
Wow...tough question. "Y Tu Mama Tambien" is a movie I can watch over and over both for the scenery and the story. "Amores Perros" is intense but beautifully done. "The City of Lost Children" is bizarrely wonderful. I could name many, many more but those are the first ones that come to mind.
Foreign to whom? You Americans are so insular! My current favourite foreign film is "Team America" by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
man bites dog is probably my favorite foreign film...i hadn't yet then nor have i still seen anything like it. also trainspotting and y tu mama tambien are great.
O, wow, this is REALLY hard for me... who like whores Foreign (especially Japanese!!!!) Films. I would say its a contest between... +++ Battle Royale +++ Suicide Circle (AKA: Suicide Club) +++ Uzumaki If you havent seen any of the three... go see them RIGHT now!!
Im with bluespade, Run Lola Run was an amazing movie. Absolutly fantastic. Brotherhood of the Wolf and Children of the Lost City are also great movies.
