currently my favorite non-fiction writer is starhawk, although quite frankly i can't say i care too much for her fiction. in terms of fiction, tolkien of course is to be praised for his epic vision, & beloved characters, but that almost goes without saying. at the moment, in terms of writing style, i am very much into terry pratchett & his discworld series. i like his attention to detail, for example, through the clever use of humorous footnotes and minor characters. so far i think my favorite is lords and ladies, but it's a tough call. mort is the next book i'm planning on picking up.
