this is rediculus, I looked this up because I just sprained my ankle yesterday and all im finding is advertisements and half-assed incomplete answers

I hear there are two ways to do it
One is R.i.c.e which basically to rest, ice and more rest

the other is r.e.m. which i dont know what it stands for, but is claimed to heal your ankle in 3-7 days

I sprained my ankle like 3 times in a row before and i just remember i liked skating so much I just tried walking on it and moving it as much as possible and I recovered each time within a week so I'm thinking i should just start excercizing it... but maybe i did lay off it I don't remember

Anyways, so far I've stayed off it and iced it a bunch and I'm wondering if I should start stretching it soon?

if I were you, i would have my ankle be massaged by a trained professional it much safer that way!

Rest, ibuprofen, and ice. Give yourself a few days time to completely relax, otherwise it will take forever to heal.

I've sprained my ankles so many times.

i usually toss on a tensor bandage as well for extra support, to keep from worsening the sprain - but my sprains are typically from my foot getting twisted sideways and the tensor bandage helps that from repeating itself. also dont go crazy on it, avoid stairs when not necessary, etc

dont walk on it. thats prob your best bet.

srsly though, theres different degrees of sprain. the one time i did mine, i was off it for at least two weeks, on crutches. it swelled to twice its size b/c i didnt rest enough or take any anti-inflammatories. tensure wraps are good.

it really depends on how bad the sprain is - you may have even tore some tissue...can't diagnose over the interwebz.

but start massaging both of your calves - try walking barefoot more often - and start working on ankle mobility work at the basic level as soon as the swelling goes down...use a theraband and go up and down and side to side...work on increasing your ability to dorsiflex the ankle.

you will need to exercise the ankle without weight on it.

moving the ankle around on a regular basis will help it heal quicker.

try to keep your weight off it in the meantime
