    Which do you prefer dues??

A fantastic hole in the wall place that may only cost $5 for an outstanding meal that may only have 3 or 4 ingredients or a fantastic fine dining place with an innovative menu, highly trained chef and foods you havent tried before??

Both can have either or so to me it doesnt matter AS LONG AS THE FOOD IS GOOD!! (I picked HOLE IN THE WALL as i prefer them to be honest)

    hole in the wall

When I do go out to eat I generally take half of it home for another meal. At the snooty places you generally pay too much for too little food.

Hole in the wall, for sure. Fine dinning is, and I think will always be, out of my comfort zone.

I particularly remember two hole-in-the-wall falafel spots in New York City that I miss. I wonder if they are still there...

One was on 2nd Ave. off of St. Mark's. The other one was on McDougall St. off of 4th St.

Any New Yorkers in the house can confirm?

Depends on what type of food. Pho is almost always better from the hole in the wall places. For French food, fine dining all the way.

Not all fine dining is small portions, either.

As far as national chains off the top of my head I think of Ruth's Chris. They serve gigantic steaks, and large portions in general.

    Tuxedo t-shirt lol.

I love getting dressed up to go out.

    Also, pho is my favorite.

The best pho in San Francisco is served at a little place that while Viet owned was next door to a French school that served the kids of the French Council and staff and other French elite with a taste for pho.

Nice. I've had pho at a few places that were more upscale, but it never seemed as good. The little hole-in-the-wall place that I go to here makes epic chili sauce.

They won my heart with their sautéed squid. If you partake you have some idea of how rarely you will find a place that does it right consistently.

It depends on what I want to have for dinner.

You can't beat a little greasy spoon type place for some foods. As some have mentioned also the portions.

If I am in the mood for something more refined to eat, I choose a place that offers that.

Usually I would go to the smaller hole in the wall places for breakfast, brunch or lunch. For dinner I will usually choose a more upscale menu.
