The first two were the greatest RPGs ever put out there, in my opinion. Brotherhood of Steel was okay, but I'd been looking forward to FO3 for years. There's just no way I'll ever have an xbox to play it on. Be sure to tell me how it is so I can enjoy it vicariously through you.
I've been waiting a long time too until i saw how the current game was turning out. I'm sure it'll be great but the first/third person perspective has just ruined it for me personally ... i'm just an isometric, top down man. Black Isles 'van buren' was looking good in that isometric mould ... shame they scrapped it, i would have prefered that. So to console myself i'm playing fallout 2 again with the 'Fallout 2 renovation project' installed... it's pretty good so far.
God I wish I had a computer that could run this game, I loved Fallout 1 and 2. Looks like I might have to wait a few years before I can play this one now....
I've been playing it for two days now (not straight!) and it's by far the most immersive game I've ever played. This game belongs in an art museum. No joke.
It's an amazing game, we had till wait till the 31st but the first thing I did this morning was get dressed, walk up the road, and buy it. As for immersion I can't really think of another game that comes close it, there's nothing like scavenging for crap in a dimly lit house in the middle of nowhere. I've got a few game mechanics / progression nit-picks, primarily "why the hell wouldn't you use V.A.T.S. 99% of the time" and a bit of moaning about the way your skills progress compared to the previous games but you could call that fanboy whining. I've been hit by 2 bugs to boot, but that's what you get for buying the game on release day. All in all a stunningly beautiful and very engaging game that im still going to be playing in 5 years
sounds good.... but my worry is that when i get it, i will find it too big, if you know what i mean, like oblivion, i bought that and just couldnt get into it, didnt have the time to invest to actually get anywhere... hopefuly my fallout 3 experience wont follow the same route
I got Fallout 3, and it has got to be one of the best, or maybe THE best, games I have ever played. It's addicting, and immersive. I was so excited for this game, and all my expectations have been met or surpassed. The only problems I could find is a few minor bugs, and the facial animations aren't really great.
Just got home from my travels and my housemate got Fallout 3. Plan on de-stressing with a full day of gaming goodness.
I watched some gameplay clips today. It looks alot different than I expected, more along the lines of a FPS. Still looks good, but there's alot of good looking shooters out there, so exactly how many of the original rpg elements are retained? And what about system requirements? Can I play on my shitty laptop, or will I need to rob a computer store?
When you've spent 3 hours running round rivet-fucking-city you'll wish it was a FPS. The combat is a bit unusual it that you can dodge things FPS style and run round like a headless chicken, but when it comes to shooting back your accuracy and damage are very much stats based, and if your anything like me you'll do 90% of your fighting with the VATS targeting. This is very much an RPG, and a dam good one to boot.
sounds like it needs a bit of getting used to... is it like elder scrolls in that you have to be in first person view to see stuff to pick up?
Crazy Horse ... i understand it's only on xbox right now although i think a PC version is due sometime. I can't imagine a 'crappy laptop' being able to play it.
