well , while my brother had out his farm plow he tilled for me
a half acre of sod . i do believe with a pass of the disc in the
spring that's all the machine work i'll ever ask for . i'll be asking
    for a donkey .

the rows will be 24" wide . twixt every row is a 40" strip of
    grass . this i'll re-seed with a clover/grass mix , which i call
a tilth strip . this is where the soil life of worms and microbes
abide undisturbed , and permanently so , both producing and
conserving nutrients . they transfer horizontally from there into
the crop row . the grass strip also gets mowed with the clippings
sent into the rows as mulch or perhaps when general conditions
are too wet the clippings are let lie or removed .

i worked a smaller plot like this for three years . just stepping it
up . i'd rather imagine a donkey will have fun helping me .

the estimated yield for this half-acre plot is 25 bushels of flour corn
and 6 bushels of dry beans .
