Facebook hiatus

I had a friend put that she was "contemplating a Facebook hiatus" on her status thingy on Facebook. Now, I maybe check my Facebook three times a week if that. I never remember, mostly cuz I'm a MySpace addict, but what the hell makes Facebook so special that people are having to "cut back"? That site is creepy as hell, letting the government have free reign of your profiles.

I dunno, maybe I buy into conspiracy theories too often, too easily, but even at that, the only thing that site has to offer is a way to access my friends' phone numbers and way too many applications. You can't even edit the layout of your profile!

I dont like Facebook either...
My Facebook friends are people I know and see every day ( oh and Caitlin and some other people), so I dont really see a point...
And all those applications - which town are you, which fashion designer are you, whats the perfect perfume for you....Those are really important things to know.
BTW, I am Miami and Dolce & Gabbana...

I have over 1000 requests now and I am just ignoring them.

facebook is meh. I like it over myspace, because myspace is so fucking annoying with all the retarded page layouts people make. I only use facebook to send messages to the people I know around the world because keeping track of email adresses is just impractical and to store/show off my photos.

it's scary how difficult it is to delete a facebook profile though. you have to delete every single little thing on there. I should get started on it soon. I've started ignoring the people who try to add me, but aren't really my friends. I mean really. who has 400+ friends?

 

I know...I started deleting it yesterday. It should be done soon. Deleted pics, most of the applications....
Its like you have your own advertising page. And you're advertising yourself.

it's a social networking site, shroomie. you're abstinence is probably a very good decision.

another thing is employers have long since started looking at facebook profiles for new employees and existing ones. it's like a voluntary big brother/1984 kind of thing.

 

I never used any of those kind of sites and I probably never will.
HF is enough for me.

 

I don't really like things like that... If I want the world to see how badass I am I would probably just make a website about my coolness...
But what does it consist of...I am curious...

 

Myspace i prefer but i wouldnt trust either. lol i dont even trust Hf...

 

I hate facebook. All the people that knew me back in highschool keep wanting to be my friend on there. I didn't like those people when I had to see them every week....why the hell would I want anything to do with them now? Plust that place is perfect for stalkers.

I like myspace....only because no one knows it's me unless I want them to know.

 

www.************ You have a profile, you add friends, play games...I used it to find some old friends I had lost touch with...but it is not so exciting that I go there every day like I do here... The only person who messages me is the one who lives 5 minutes away and should just pick up the phone So I generally miss the time when she wanted to get together because I didn't check it.

And people sending me requests to add crap to my page is annoying. I like to keep it plain.

i agree. my myspace page is probably as anonymous as my hipforums account. myspace is also better because you can basically put whatever you want up there, instead of just the options given to you by facebook.


i almost never check either of them though

 

I only add people I know there, and I like the groups/discussion boards.

 

I had this old guy from my bar call my cellphone and make it look like it was home calling from a special number he called. to show me that I shouldnt have my home number up. Yikes.

 

I ordered a poster from allposters.com a few weeks ago and later that night I signed on facebook to read this - "You purchased Pink Floyd Division Bell from Allposters.com. Would you like this to appear in your friends' news feed?"

I could not believe that. I signed off and have not returned since

 

I can't believe how many people have their phone numbers and addresses up. I would never put that up.
