Where do you all get your fabric? I work at hobby lobby, and they dont have much fabric that i really like. I know hancock fabrics has a ton of it, really funky stuff too... but where else is there? and also... is anyone else addicted to buying fabric? hehe. i use to go nuts over yarn, until i started sewing which was what 2 weeks ago? heh i buy too much crafty stuff. i gotta start saving up now
I shop at Joann Fabrics mainly. There is a big one about 30 minutes from me. And yes I am addicted to fabric buying I have a closet in my sewing room that is stacked up to the top shelf with just corduroy. I have so much fabric it is sick. I like getting specialty fabrics off ebay too. There is always cool vintage fabric up there.
i concur with what the ladies have already said... you can find some really neat fabrics on eBay. i also go to the big Joann's about 1/2 hour from me.
*sigh* I hate living on this island sometimes. I am so jealous of you guys being so close to a real fabric store!! We are 3+ hours from the nearest Joanns
Yikes! thee hours! i shop at joann's too or walmart sometimes. I have never goten anything from ebay though i will have to check that out. :-D
I go to Hobby Lobby, actually. There's TONS of fabric at the one I go to, and it's like half the price of Hancock--and it's also like a mile away from my house. I really should try eBay for fabric, though. *wanders off to look*
Thrift stores, garage sales, quilt shops, costuming shops, http://freecycle.org, or http://www.equilter.com in addition to the places everyone else has mentioned ... .
the garment district in los angeles they have gorgeous european imports and theres a tailor there who will custom make skirts for 40 bucks-which is insanely cheap usualy its over 100 to getr even the simpielist thing madend hes incredibley talented.
Usually at Wal Mart, or from other crafters who don't like the fabric they have. But I loved the idea yesterday of making stuff out of old sheets, so I'm going to be watching next time I'm at a opp shop or thrift store! Bright Blessings! Aphrodite Pretty
I buy old cordoroy pants at thrift shops when they are cheap and cut em up and do patchwork!! I also buy old sheets when they have good ones!! But for the most part I get fabric at Joannes, they have quilters cotton for like $1.79 a yard
I get my fabric from Joanns, A. C. Moores, Wallmart and the the net.... I buy lots of fabric.... But everytime i sit down to sew... i never find anything that i want to use so i go buy more
well ok i just went on ebay...well ive been lookin for about an hour now... and holy crap theres a lot of stuff! I think i might get a lil too attached to ebay... uh oh
I get most of my fabric from Fabricland, Fanny's Fabrics and Wal Mart. My granny and my great aunts are always sending me their cast off fabrics, and I just found a great fabric shop that deals in ethnic, East Indian prints.
