Is there a decent one on amazon? forgot i had like $40 on my amazon account and was wondering if there was a decent ez mushroom kit where all i needed was a spore which i can get from another website. I really don't want to do it without the kit because i know i'll fuck something up. Thanks guys
All mushroom kits are pretty much the same..... a big waste of money. If I were you I would put that $40 towards a pressure cooker and some canning jars. For under a hundred bucks and alittle educatuon you can pull down a pound dry a month like nothing. Get a man a kit and he trips face for a day..... teach him to grow and he trips balls for a lifetime.
If you are set on getting a ready made set up then just buy some presterilized grain bags and a syringe from a trusted vendor. No need for the rest of the kit because yoy should have everything else on hand at home... ie a tupperware container and a spray bottle.
Thank you guys for the motivation. I think that's what i'll do. Just need to ask, does the PF tek style works? the one from youtube? and do you guys have any spore recommendations? vendors as well?
The PF Tek def works but my recommendation would be to skip it and jump right into grains. The PF Tek dates back 30+ years and a lot of advancement in home mycology has been made since (think of it this way..... would you use a book from the 70s to grow weed or would you opt to use a book written in the last few years detailing modern developments in indoor growing) Try my tek..... I have refined it over the last decade to make is pretty much idiot proof and to minimize contamination rates. Plus I am here every day so you can ask me if you have any questions. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=416240&f=118 You can buy all of your supplies from Walmart (except the spores)......The biggest cost is the pressure cooker which you can buy used for a few bucks from a thrift store or you can do what I did when I was starting out..... Go to walmart and buy the biggest most expensive pressure cooker you can find and 10 dozen canning jars........ sterilize all your grain jars and then return the pressure cooker for a full refund (walmart has a 30 day money back no questions asked return policy so you can buy all your supplies and then return it a month later for a full refund) Any old school strain would be good (Hawaiians, Amazonians, PF, B+, golden teachers.....ect.... Once you get your first mushrooms and make spore prints you can trade them with other growers for new strains. I have only bought one spore print in my life and have traded for dozens of other strains over the last ten year Honestly I am all about giving free prints to newbies but sadly I am on the other side of the planet right now and would probably take 3-5 months for you to get it because the mail system here is shitty.
