Where the fuck do they come up with these long ass unpronounceable names

If that fool ronald reagan didn’t hold a summit with mikhail gorbachev back in the 80s
I wouldn’t be able to pronounce reykjavik either :(

You’ve heard of “nuclear winter” how about “volcanic winter”

BTW: Benjamin Franklin was the first to establish the link between volcanic eruptions and climate when he suggested the bitterly cold winter of 1783-84 was a result of the dust cloud formed from the massive eruption of Iceland's Mt. Laki in 1783.

What good would calling Bush have done? It sure didn't help with Katrina.

"Some scientists believe that an asteroid spotted in January 2004 had a one-in-four chance of hitting the planet within 36 hours. Researchers contemplated a call to President George Bush before new data finally showed there was no danger.

We tend to forget things happening right under our feet.

At least with issues such as nuclear winter, asteroid impacts, and global warming, we have some ability to intercede and control or prevent them. Not much can be done about volcanic eruptions.

Of course there is. You just need a really big plug :D

Or a volcanic condom, that would be spectacular!

I was due to travel too but the eruption of Mt. Eyjafjallajokull has interrupted our flights yet again. The volcano re-erupted and a change of gusts of wind triggered an ash cloud to stop airline travel again. Fortunately for travelers this time around it was merely overnight and not for days. There is chatter that this volcano may erupt once again, triggering delays in air travel yet again. If it is at all achievable, I would suggest not flying into any regions suffering from this volcano until it is certain that there won't be any more activity from the volcano.
