Tomorrow, I shall be getting up and driving to Portland at 7:00 am for a college interview at Lewis and Clark, (a small liberal arts school that I can't possibly afford but is incredibly cool) in which I have absolutely NO clue as to what I'm going to be asked and discussing or how to make a good impression.

Then I shall be travelling the hour or so back home, from where I will go to an audition for "The Crucible" at 1 o'clock, at the really awesome local theater here in town. I have to perform a shakespearean sonnet - not a regular monologue, a SONNET. I mean...why did it have to be that. I actually already had 116 memorized, but then I figured that's such a famous one, ("Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments . . .") that they'd probably hear it a million times. So I've learned a new one, number 90, and I'm feeling rather shaky on it and basically quite terrified.

I'm going to type it out now and hope that further engrains it upon my brain:

Then hate me when thou wilt; if ever, now:
Now while the world is bent my deeds to cross,
Join with the spite of fortune, make me bow,
And do not drop in for an afterloss.
Ah, do not, when my heart hath 'scaped this sorrow,
Come in the rearward of a conquered woe,
Give not a windy night a rainy morrow,
To linger out a purposed overthrow.
If thou wilt leave me, leave me not at last,
When other petty griefs have done their spite,
But in the onset come; so shall I taste,
at first the very worst of fortune's might.
And other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared with loss of thee would not seem so.

Well that's kind of bizarre...what did Ken Kesey have to do with it?

well my advice for the interview is to be yourself; they've done tons of interviews before, they'll know if you're trying to be somebody you're not. plus a liberal arts school is probably looking for individuality and specialness :)

just try to be calm and comfortable and optimisitic :) (sorry that's really the only advice i can give you...)

but anyway, congrats on getting the interview and audition in the first place!

His statue... I was looking up stories about him and such... then came across some article and someone mentioned the college. It's a rather vague imprint in my memory.

I'm sure you'll do fine, you've got a good head on your shoulders so just sit down, take a few deep breaths and let your colours shine.

The only Ken Kesey statue I know of isn't in Portland, where Lewis and Clark is, it's in Eugene, where the hippy school, U of O is.

I almost went there, but it seemed a little stuck-up for me. I know someone that does go there though and they say that the food is godawful. I can't confirm that though. The campus is beautiful however.

    Seriously though, congratulations :)
