Well I don't want to do any drug extractions, but I do want to practice chemistry. Does anyone know some cool experiments I could do? Extracting things from other things and what not, that would give me practice. It'd be cool if I could extract something useful/cool, but I'll still do it if it's pointless and will give me practice.
steam distilling essential oil is always cool. just got a good bit of d-limonene from a bunch of orange/lemon peels
extract caffeine from coffee or tea with dcm, classic organic lab experiment. did it once, had a beaker of white crystals and some tannins (get rid of those by washing w/ activated carbon in aqueous sol'n)
