When I read all these reports about people dying from making meth, i ask myself 'hat did they do wrong' because in some methods you dont even ned a flame to cook it so how could the fumes catch fire.
If someone were smart and made it the one-pot method outside with no sparks or flames, how could they catch fire and burn themselves?

Being fucking stupid. A lot of them have bad recipes, or smoke while distilling solvents, or some other such idiocy.

A source of fire doesn't always need to be present, certain chemical reactions can produce explosions. Though yeah, it is true.. all of the explosions are due to inaccuracy, obviously. Be smart each time you cook and don't kill yourself using a non reputable guide.

uh.... ETHER? last time i checked that was capable of exploding.

some stupid bitch in the chem lab at my uni decided she wanted to take organic chem. She also decided during lab that it would be a great idea to put a fucking beaker full of ether onto a hotplate set on HEAT instead of STIR....you can guess what happened next.
fortunately she was ok but the explosion set off the sprinklers and destroyed expensive lab equipment.

Shake and bake is probably asking for an explosion. You have to release the pressure from the fucking 2 liter (honestly 2-liters should never be involved in chemistry) before it blows up in your face.

shake and BOOM is more like it.

Yes, but doesn't there have to be a ignition?
also, you would see the bottle swelling up like it was a 'the works/ aluminum foil' bomb correct. I mean, you would have to be retarded for that to blow up in your hands right??? You have AT LEAST 5 seconds to throw it, no?

no. volatile solvents under pressure and reactants in gas form dont need an ingnition source to blow up a 2-liter.

temperatures from these chemical reactions rise well above what is necessary to create an open fire, there is no outside source of anything required, just some poorly handled molecules.

look at nitroglycerin. it's a liquid i believe, and it can EXPLODE in fire and carnage like dynamite, from just shaking it.

this why you put rubber, balloons, condoms over the top.. But of course if rednecks dont have protected sex, wash dishes, or graduation parties.. then they dont know what those things are.. :p

You blow up because you fucked up.

some causes i have seen that fucked up the RXN.

    -No ventilation
-Venting through a tube that can not handle hydroic gas
    -shitty and half assed push/pulls
    -smoking meth while making meth
    -reacting in apartment buildings
    -dropping the flask
    -sparks/flame touching the red phosphorus
    -adding too much/too little precursors
    -too much heat
-shitty precursors that have more than pseudoephedrine in them (gakk)
    -not watching the reaction closely
    - and my favourite, freaking out when the reaction starts...

there are tons more, depending on what reaction/recipie you are using.

A classic fucking mistake is reacting for too little amount of time, then stopping the reaction to extract nothing lol... classic fucking shit.

you left out smoking tobacco.. the leading cause of explosions... nothing more addictive than nicotine. nicotine is so addictive people light up where they know that they can blow up, hahaha I cant wait for this shit to settle "puff puff" we gona be so high.. KABOOM...:willy_nilly:

    I'm sure there's a variety of reasons.
But to my understanding most commonly the ethyl ether (necessary in a lithium reduction synthesis) which is pretty sensitive, gets riled up and... boom.
