Women are essentially exhibitionists and men are voyeurs. Thus the power of the male gaze and the evolution of pornography.Do you agree or disagree. What is your experience of this construct?
i think men are just horny. they would gladly be both exhibitionists and voyeurs, but they're more likely to get beaten and/or arrested for wagging their dicks at people.
I think it's true for both sexes - but it is the perceived presumption of society that dicktakes the order of suck - methinks
both are well within the ordinary range of diversity of the universe. if they bring a smile that's good, if not, they can be ignored.
This came up a lot in university: http://www.luxonline.org.uk/articles/visual_pleasure_and_narrative_cinema(printversion).html I don't think that the evolution of the male gaze is a result of men being "naturally" more voyeuristic and women being "naturally" exhibitionistic. I think it's probably a case of historical male insecurity and desire for dominance and control of the sexual sphere and of women's bodies generally and sexual agency in particular.
I have been exposing my bare bottom for years iminmyunderwear. I walk around in public with really short cut off jean shorts and bare feet and at least a full quarter of my sexy bare ass is showing for all to see. I haven't got a beating yet nor have I been arrested. So how about that.
When I was 16 there was this girl who lived next door to me (also 16 years of age) who on the street or at school wouldn’t give me the time of day, but at night with her bedroom window directly across the driveway which separated our two houses, she would put on a performance for the ages. Of course I would reciprocate and when I did she would mimic what I did the previous night to alert me to the fact that she was watching and enjoying. Hotwater
women have more to see, to look at. men have tended to dominate social structures and hierarchies. other species then human often have more to see to look at, though not so much sexually. so i don't see any indication here of a "gender nature", more the way nature made the shapes. infants a kind of repulsive cuteness so their parents won't eat them. adolescents an erotic cuteness so that species will reproduce and perpetuate themselves. aging becoming less reproductively attractive to have more time left alone to develop intellectual persuits. also the young and old being more vulnearable to predition so the reproducing age individuals are left alone to do so to produce more prey. that's all kind of universal among animal life, and humans have just evolutionarilly inhiereted that. the thing about sapience, if its real, is not being locked into patterns of behavior we are born with.
I'm very exhibitionist but I also like to look too. I find a lot of people enjoy doing both, it's just a question of which one they prefer most.
Well. There's something for everyone I guess.I am pretty much a voyeur when it comes to sex,but an exhibitionist in other areas of my life, like performance.
