with brownish-black mold growing on it, crack a smile. it's a starting point for one of your favorite kicks. this grass is everywhere, including my doorstep and backyard. http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=PADI3 or http://images.google.com/images?q=Paspalum%20Distichum&sourceid=mozilla-search&oe=UTF-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi http://leda.lycaeum.org/?ID=515
so... when i saw grass i was like, 'weed'. so you just take this orally? u should try it and post what you think.
hah, i think not. I merely said it's a starting point, for something much more potent and safe. eating it as is will likely give you some sort of ergotism. the grass itself is inactive, but the fungus contains a slew of ergoline derivatives.
So this is growing all over north america? And how come i haven't heard of this yet? Is this resent for some reason?
you haven't heard of it, because noone thinks to look there. Claviceps Purpurea is more commonly known to be the primary source; yet dallisgrass is probably more widespread than ryegrass. plus, the fungus still needs to be cultivated (like shroom mycelium, though much more involved) and treated with chemicals which are probably not immediately accessible. though diethylamine = ethanol + aqueous ammonia + epson salt. add heat. (the very basic procedure) ehh, i probably better shut up now.
*bump* (because I don't know how to configure my Mozilla browser for copy/paste) http://www.maps.org/pipermail/maps_forum/1998-February/000627.html
hmm... so you're saying ergot grows on dallisgrass, which is more prominent? wait so what's your point? "it" is possible...
not necessarily... but you could get pretty ill, and bug out. ergot fungus actually comprises a large family of fungi, including claviceps purpurea, claviceps paspali, and claviceps africana. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergot . the former two are well known to have ergoline compounds of interest, the latter has some as well (agroclavine) but is not as widely documented. c.africana grows on johnsongrass.
