i'm watching it AGAIN on logo right now. i adore this movie. it's a keeper. gives me a warm fuzzy and big ol' smile. AND it's super sweet. i love it.
it's a movie with robert de niro as an ex cop who suffers a nasty stroke. he starts taking singing lessons from a drag queen (whom he's always been a jerk to). but they become friends, de niro gets over a lot of issues, and helps her, too. and while it sounds maudlin or sily, it's so beautiful. it's a "friendship romance." it's so sweet.
the ending makes me laugh and cry. the way these two have to learn to deal with each other and get over each other's preconceived notions and come to care for one another. it's beautiful. and funny. and there's som FUCKING SWEET scenes the drag queen hands out.
Sounds like a good movie. I'm surprised that somebody is edgy enough to take on the subject of Italian persecution by drag queens.
it's a little funny, a little harsh, there's a slightly cheesy side-story about lost money, there's a little romance, a lot of people learning to deal with each other and some great dialogue.
