The effects of weed, certain effects just boggle me on how they happen, what are the technical reason, i understand inhale smoke thc and other cannabinoids bind to cannabinoid receptors but thats it? like. for example

ive posted a topic on my favourite effect of weed. the zone.

where you close you eyes there colorful grids and visuals occasionally and you feel like your flying in place on a roller coaster ride, a bid rush of tingling and shit feels so good keeps getting really intense and ifeel like im gonna rip out my body.

why is this? is it just a big endorphin rush and cause im high i feel it heavier or what?

well you have "thc" receptors in different parts of the brain. that's why different drugs affect your body different because they bind to different sites in the brain. for instance weed binds to a memory spot in the brain and that's probably why it fucks with your memory. However, it does Not have recepts in the medulla oblongata and that's why you can't overdose with weed(since it doesn't affect a part of the body that regulates IMPORTANT functions of the body). Alcohol, I believe, on the other hand, does have receptors in that area of the brain and that's why you can die.

As for colorfulness, I've heard weed changes the brain waves in your body. To a more relaxed, open, (childlike) waves. Like when you are in deep sleep your brain has different activity levels than while awake....so bud changes brain waves while awake.
Also, I believe it makes you more conscious and have more access to the right hemisphere of the brain, which seems to have a lot to do with emotion, creativity, spaciousness, and all things unlogical.

The left hemisphere is a lot more language and reason oriented, and in our modern society we're brought up to be heavily left-hemisphere oriented(because we're constantly taught to memorize, repeat, memorize, recite, copy, memorize, etc). I believe that bud allows the brain to have better balance in the brain by allowing you access to a more emotional free and timeless part of the brain.

Also I believe to some extent, for me, when high I have the ability to stop thinking and I've heard from spiritual advocates that when you are not thinking, but being, you gain access to __________ that is unavailable during our modern normal consciousness(due to the way us and our ancestors have been raised)

dude, that is a great reply. the child like think yes i know that, i feel so much like a kid, looking at the wonder of the world and shit. also the thing how bud makes you peaceful and shit you know the image of hippies or the rasta guy just smiling and shit. i really feel that and i just want peace and everyone to be treated right, when people are mean and im high i notice it and take way more offense to it it gives me the blues. so i gues that is emotional free you said. it sounds dumb but honestly pot is fucking beautiful for real.

aester, wow that was a god damn good reply. Learning something new everyday reading these forums.

Anyone had sex while high? That shit is so sensitive...its like mind-boggling. Weed is good shit. I just want to try and experiment, and give weed to someone who hates weed, and thinks its bad. And how they feel after they have done it lol.

But like, sometimes i have this thought when smoking...like of everything..like of society as a whole. Like you realize where you really belong in society. And how everyone acts....its kind of hard to explain, but that shit just really blows my mind.

This is one of those questions whos answer could win a nobel prize.

I share a burning desire to understand how the 'zone' can occur. I must say though, smokin weed aint what it used to be, and the zone, which used to occur every time i smoked weed, is now something i have to muster up or perhaps when im comin down off ecstacy.

I have some ideas as to what is going on when you get stoned but it is so hard to structure it out and explain, in words. It is hard to study this area given weeds illegal status, because we must test people whilst stoned doing a lot of things to better understand weeds effects. but no one funds for 'the sake of knowlege' these days, you need a pitch of profit, or of persecution.
