So, I'm on my lunch break, and when I got to the french fry truck (some places have ice cream trucks, we have french fry trucks...Weird, I know) I meet this group of people who I haven't seen since last year, and they all complimented how much better my dreads looked then the last time they saw me, and as I ordered my french fries, I noticed that the girl working there had dreads! Which is weird, because this is the first time I've seen someone else with dreadlocks in this city! She winked at me.
always happens.. people at gigs, random business ladies in town winkin at me (and then appearing at the gig later that night), rastas down the rag market grabbin my arm and say 'we like, we like you hair', err..
Not too many around here but I'll see a few every once in a while. It was great though. In a small bar near closing time on a Sunday night I was having a brew or two and there were three of us with locs in there. That was a first considering the part of town I was in.
I see a lot of black people with dreads around where I live but they ignore me or laugh. except this one guy said he liked mine after I complimented his. I've also seen one white girl at our local wal-mart she didn't notice me but I swear her pic was on dhhq. shouldn't I see a ton more since I live in the state where dhhq is based?
I just wish I could see a nice set of dreads up close. all my friends think they are cool but too messy.
I see at least one set a day. Might have something to do with with me living with them tho. London has a fair amount of dread heads. You see a lot more of them out an about in the summer time.
i know of 1 other person in the town i live in who has dreads.... and i never bump into her, EVER!!! but i'v seen her around once or twice, she's got gorgeous blond babies!
all the black people ignore me,cuz they think i'm stealin' there culture or somthin' but i went to upstate new york to the renaissance fair and i saw seven people with dreads they loved my dreads, and non-dreads loved em' too,i even saw this one guy who had dreads just like soaring eagle,we drank and talked for hours.
I live in silverdale, washington...kind of close to seattle and I never ever see anyone with dreads. But many people stare at me, no one comments though.
around here (well in philly im in the burbs now tho) i see thousands of dreads all thge time but even more so at hgatherings you see tons (and id guess alnmost all are natural if not all) even a good number around as old as mine..and a fair hgood number on kids as young as 5 and elders in theyre 70's and above id guess at gatherings on any given day maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the ppl ya dsee would be dready but in philly just wandering around i doubt ya could go a block or 2 without seeing at least 1 dready or more during the odunde fest thoigh its like 90% dreadies
NP is right, loads of dreadies in austin. i was in venice beach last week, walking around and wearing my favorite headband and shades, prob looked like a beast.. i got so many nods and thumbs up and comments. i saw a few dreadies, too, one guy on a bike with amazing clean looking ones. people loved my locks in LA!
what Chaos said... cuz we're from the same city... if I dare to leave my little neighborhood, I'll see at least one set...
I have dready city envy. No one here has them. Maybe I just need to get our more... When I lived in New Brunswick, Canada, there were a heck of a lot more dreadies around... even in the teeny town I grew up in there were some dreads. Come on Red Deer!!!
daisy... thats because there is a super duper hippie community in fredericton. When I was living in St Andrews they'd always come and drum at the point parties we would have........ And this thought just totally made me think of evlove festival and if I could possible have the funds to go this year.... ........*trails off to find out the dates for evolve...*
