I always go out of my way to crush things under my feet during my barefoot adventures.

Taking walks and stepping on fallen fruit, feeling it explode under my soles. I also love groups of ants, they stick if I press down hard, it's cool to see the tiny specks stuck to the bottom of your feet. But my favorite are worms, I either smash them with the ball of my foot or grind them with the soft underside of my filthy dirty toes, the slime and guts between them feels amazing and is my favorite barefoot experience.

I also make it a point to show off my dirty soles in public.

Lifting up my foot alittle more than normal as I walk to show off my awesomely tough and black soles. Or i'll sit with my filthy feet bare to the world, up on tables, soles directed at groups of people, it's fun the way they stare.

Anyone else have any experiences, thoughts, or stories to share?

Well sometimes to go out of one's way is about going a little bit further ... is to go out of the way of another living being (no matter how big or small they are) in order to not smash them, and not harm your own spirit either by doing it on purpose.

Maybe it is also about expanding one's view on life all along and what this means to you - simple.

Tread with care, good man, be it with shoes or without ... step beyond your own self. The worms will thank you and this may even be a greater reward.

    Yup just a thought.

I make detours to walk on the harder paths, for the fun of seeing people who lurks at me in horror while i am stepping barefoot among thorns, heaps of sharp wood chips, large gravel or broken glass. on the other hand i think that one should leave small creatures alone and avoid killing ants or worms for no reason. i mean, there are so many fucking assholes around that deserve 2bslain for good reasons instead of ants.

Look at the pic of his soles in the pics thread - they aren't "awesomely tough" as he posted, but non-barefooters soles. So the posting should be fantasy, too. ;)

I know my feet aren't as tough as many of those who post on this forum. I'm actually quite envious of some soles around here.

I didn't start my serious barefooting until about a month ago, and those pictures were taken back then. I can get some up-to-date ones as soon as my friend returns my camera, if you'd like.

I go out of my way to walk on hot asphalt and stand on hot metal plates in the summer, and I walk where the street is broken up to feel the chunky gravel. But I always avoid killing small creatures on the path. I even rescue critters, such as snails and newts from getting stepped on by removing them from the trail and placing them in a safer spot.

Those little critters are there for a good reason in the circle of life. All living things are made from the same DNA code and the same molecules as we are. We are no better than they are and they deserve equal respect and care.

Stepping on ants here is a sure-fire way to have some serious welts, as the noxious imported fire ant has a toxic bite and our local black warrior ants will take a major chunk of flesh. As far as harmless creatures goes, I leave them alone.

Folks here go barefoot quite commonly, but customs in Micronesia, South East Asia and most of the Pacific consider placing the feet at the height of another's head or an icon or pointing with one's feet at another or an icon as the highest insult. Doing so in some places may get you killed, in others it will merely get you some time in jail.

As barefooters, we need to be emissaries for our lifestyle. Intentionally causing offense is counter productive to the goal of projecting a positive image. Although many here disagree with me on this point, I feel that keeping one's feet clean and in good repair is also an important part of furthering this goal.

i enjoy going barefoot, because i enjoy feeling different textures under my feet. i do not purposely try to step on bugs, worms or any creature. all things, bugs, roaches, ants, whatever, are part of the cycle of life on this planet. all of them are vital and important. please learn to enjoy your barefooting experiences by exploring differnet surfaces. you will learn the joys of barefooting, as well as toughening your soles and increasing your endurance.

take care and keep em bare

I avoid stepping on bugs, unless they're in the house! This reminds me of an old English saying, "if you wish to live and thrive, let the spider go alive". Presumably because they eat other potentially more harmfull bugs.

I totally agree, it's counterproducing and pointless to be rude , particularly if you want to promote something that isnt that popular. weird that thing about insulting with ones feet but what the heck, it's their land and their costumes so I guess they deserve respect. but wtf man
