this is a shot in the dark... but is anyone from estonia or has anyone travelled there? I'm going to be studying in Tallin for the fall semester, and i received a nice sized grant from the U.S. government with which i plan to purchase plenty of hash and whores. any advice?

Hi billy, I was in Estonia last year, but just for a couple of days.I was in Tallin, which is the capital very nice of estonia. well it's a small city.Tallin's old town is really beautiful. During the fall doesn't sound to be the best period as the daylight is very few and the cold will be arriving..anyway it's a young new-comers (in Europe Union) so the atmosphere is fizzy..I also heard there were more exchange students I might expect there to be. don't think your gonna buy plenty of hash up there anyway..at all..much more chances for the the rest though...

thanks for the info--it's hard to find many people who have spent time in estonia. my friends are all bugged out that i'm going there, but i can't help it. i'm fascinated with eastern europe right now. i've been all through western europe, but now i really want to experience life in the east. that's not so crazy, right? i know that the city is full of exchange students, so there's gotta be hash somewhere. i'll have to keep my eyes peeled, otherwise i'm destined for some frequent amsterdam trips. easyjet!!

well eastern europe has got a different flavour..in my last four trips I was to Prague, Budapest, Estonia and Latvia (I liked more Riga than Tallin) and once you're in the baltics
the western-europe "feels" far away, there is russian atmosphere, in fact St.Petersburg is quite close from there.I didn't go coz you need a visa and all the red tape you go through makes you fork out 100 us dollars(if not more) which I reckoned to much for atwo nights trip and either I couldn't afford, so I didn't visit Russia on sort of protest feeling against their rippin the tourist off attitude..
about east, I'm looking for visiting Poland very much..

no shit? it's easier to find grass in the east? is it good quality, or what? when i was in the uk, people would actually laugh at me if i asked them where i could score pot. this is very encouraging news... i'm with you on the russia thing. i have a fascination with eastern europe, but i really have no desire to go into russia, although i believe that one of my classes takes us on a trip to st. petersburg. oh well. you say you like riga more so than tallin? any particular reasons?

hi Billy..well normally it's easier to find low-quality grass indeed..I don't wanna bring down
your expectations but the reasons i guess depends on the fact that (as a 50760 years old ex east-germany hippy told me one time sitting at the back of coach to Copenhagen)
in the former east-block simply there were not cannabis sticking around, very very few probably, well in prague is completely overchanged now for example.. it's all over the city..it sounds very strange to me what you said about Uk..they may even turn it to be legal in a few years, I just fear US would involve to stop it..

..forgot the second question..well Riga has got more a capitolcity look..it seems more "russian" than Tallin. It's bigger anyway Tallin is very good too..you gonna meet many exchange students and man so many nice chiks..I heard once that in Estonia are the most beautiful girls of the world..well you'll judge by yourself..protests apart I suggest you to go to Russia, St. Petresburg really deserve to be visited..maybe take a 10 days trip Moscow-ST.petersburg-North Russia in order to have your visa expenses worth while..let me know ok? bye

so he really wasn't 50,760 years old? that makes more sense. seriously though, thanks for all your info. i too have heard that estonia has so many beautiful women...and as for grass in the uk, i should have been more specific...i was talking about scotland. absolutely no grass whatsoever...

Well, i don't live in Tallinn. I live in a smaller town (yeah even smaller than Tallinn :) ). Foreigners usually think that Tallinn is a beautiful city with nice old town.

It seems to me too that it's quite easy to find pot in Estonia. So check it out.

Gerva, there are quite many music festivals in Estonia, it depends on your taste of music which one is great.

It's a widespread opinion that there are beautiful women in Estonia. And again, it's really difficult for me to comment it. I've lived here all my life and everything is so natural for me. I like people from southern countries more for excample. Estonians are very reserved, not very emotional.

wow... i haven't been to hipforums in about a week, and i missed out on a whole bunch of killer info. shit... well... here's the thing. i found out that studying at tallin will still put me behind a semester here at my home university, and i desperately need to graduate soon, so i have decided to forgo the semester in tallin. on the bright side, i still have a nice grant, and so i will be spending the entire summer in europe, starting on may 23, when i fly into london. i want to spend a majority of my time in central and eastern europe, and so i will still be heading into tallin. if anyone would be interested in crossing paths with an american bum, let me know. i will be all over your continent, so i would appreciate some suggestions on where else i should visit in central or eastern europe. i can't wait to leave this god forsaken city and get back to europe... oh, and has anyone ran with the bulls?

hi billy, yes I was surprised too , seeing a new page of answers..
so you won't spend a semester in estonia..how things can change quickly, it happened to me something similar, i was heading to London the whole summer ,then I picked up a semester in Sweden instead..
running with Bulls?? well I'm going to Pamplona this summer (6-7-8 july) in Spain , it's a crazy feast, we can meet up there. I'll be spending the whole summer in Spain..
