im taking an American Law Mock Trial class this year and the teacher gave us a list of essay topics...and of course i chose the one on the draft. the topic question says: write a position paper on resuming a draft. Discuss the pros and cons. Include statistics on current troop strength as well as what groups make up most of the enlistees. How many children of Congressman have volunteered for military service?

    this should be fun

The war is not winnable.....no matter how strong the military gets, the Iraqi people will not give up.

Just about all of the enlistees today come from dirt poor areas, areas that have no jobs at all. The only reason they join the army is to get money to survive, because where they come from that's just not possible.

It's not a matter of giving up as wars are never one and with every life lost and bloodshed that is done over religion and oil, the more you lose.

Face it... we lost and they lost and it happened at the first casualty.

    Nobody ever wins a war...

but what I'm saying is this war is not winnable in Bush's eyes, even tho he says it is over. The Iraqis will not submit to the imperialists, as long as they aren't completely made extinct.

well, all of us knows that if bush gets reelected, there's probably going to be a draft. despite what they say now, there would be no other way. but all the rich people who have connections with bush will be able to find a way out of having their children serve. but then where does that leave us, the poor kids? and now women can fight on the front line, too :'(

Actually it is Bush that opposes the draft and the Democrats who brought the draft back to be voted on....but since when do politicians ever tell the truth...I think there's gonna be a draft either way, but I'm more optimistic about Kerry not bringing it back even tho evidence points to the opposite of what I believe.

The only media I watch is free speech tv.....I've seen the last 13 week day episodes of Democracy Now! and I don't remember Amy once even mentioning the draft.....oh yeah..media on the internet. Whatever, I reall'y don't believe a word of anything that doesn't come from FSTV, and some things from there I'm skeptical about.
