i received this and now so have you Hello to all of our existing members, and welcome to those who have just joined us! Thanks to all those who came out to the Global Marijuana March on May 1, your principled stance for freedom and democracy made the day a resounding success! Take a look at some of the highly positive media (although the media find it hard to resist a pun in article titles, the pieces are positive and highlight attendee calls for legalization): -"Canadian pot-lovers join pro-marijuana rallies" - Chronicle Herald -"Medical marijuana march" - CTV News -"Pot lovers light up Queen's Park" - Toronto Sun You can also check out pictures of the End Prohibition table/tent we shared with WhyProhibition.ca and CCHQ/BCMP/Marc Emery in Toronto through our Facebook gallery. Unfortunately, even though this year's events have been bigger than ever, and support for marijuana legalization is at an all time high, Stephen Harper's appointed Justice Minister, Rob Nicholson, has reintroduced bill C-15, this time under the title “Bill S-10”. This bill would give anyone growing 6 or more marijuana plants a mandatory minimum sentence of 6-9 months! and 12-18 months for making any hashish (including baked goods!). It is urgent that we act quickly to let the Prime Minister, Justice Minister, and our provincial and federal political representatives know that we oppose Bill S-10! We cannot wait for the government to squander billions of our taxpayer dollars on incarcerating non-violent citizens while slashing funding to rights groups and the environment. The science is clear, mandatory minimum sentences increase violence, fail to decrease crime, and cost billions of dollars. To top it off, the Conservatives propose these measures while crime in Canada is at a 30 year low. In short, we need your help to Stop S-10! Here's How: Please re-post the following link on your Facebook, Twitter, and Websites as we need everyone to be aware of this issue: http://whyprohibition.ca/blogs/jacob-hunter/c-15-has-returned-now-called-s-10 Call Justice Minister Rob Nicholson: (613) 995-1547 Call Conservative Senate Leader Marjory Lebreton: 1-800-267-7362 Call Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff: (613) 995-9364 Keep checking your EndProhibition.ca and WhyProhibition.ca emails for further news and actions! i too believe in ending prohibition, but as i don't live in Canada, it seems pointless to get involved there... is there a UK equivalent, do you know?
