The Elgin Marbles are a series of relief stone carvings which once formed a frieze around the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens. They were removed by an English aristo, Elgin in the 19th century, and are on display in the British Museum in London.
There is a long standing dispute, and the Greeks would like them back.
