I dunno about you all, but I like electronica. Experimental ambient can be cool, shifting ambient fx layering together to form a nice fluent foreground, some punchy drums, and some distorted piano melodies. Even acid-techno or house can be cool. As long as its not so repetitive that it gets boring. If a beat repeats 4 measure, 8 times in a row with nothing else leading or shifting in the background, that catches my attention, its just music that you can dance to while your not paying attention to how annoying it can get. Aura - The Source of Trance ]]TRANCE CONTROL[[ both are really good trance bands. Aphex Twin, the dude from nine inch nails. Now hes an experimental genre mixing expert. I mean when you can mix any genre and make it sounds like its own thing, you got some real talent going. ~Later
I dig that music and I dont need to be fucked up to listen to it if it's good, but it helps. Plump DJ's are a good example of what you were talking about, so is Robert Zabiela. Have you ever listened to breaks? DJ Baby Anne, DJ Icey, Kid Leow? If not you would more than likely get into their style too.
Chese these out for your listening pleasure: Mouse on Mars, Telefon Tel Aviv, Squarepusher, Autechre...
aphex twins have worked with nin a few times, remixed a few songs, they just released an album which is getting popular due to that 'rubber johnny' video. trent reznor (nin) shouldnt really be in the same catagory as anything trance though.
ya i listen to alot of electronica...trance, chillout, ambitrance, drum and bass, hardcore/gabber, experimental, some psy, hard trance, i can appreciate it all...
theyre all sub genre's of EDM (electronic dance music, AKA electronica) to name some of my fav DJ's/producers... GTvsProjectC (prog trance) Armin van Buuren (vocal trance) EyeD (drum and bass/gabber) Super8 (deep trance) Above and Beyond (deep trance) Smith and Pledger (vocal trance) Aphex Twin (ambient/experimental) Kristoff (hard trance) Solarstone (ambient/deep trance) Espe (ambient/chillout) Rebel9 (chillout) Orbital (psy/experimental) DT8 Project (hard/vocal trance) Ferry Corsten (trance) The Orb (psy) Infected Mushroom (psy) Healer (ambient) Aphrodite (drum and bass) ...i cant remember alot right now, but theres alot more
ah, well I have always refered to all of it as techno......the sub catagories were just to narrow it down...but I am a) old b) never been into the scene and c) wrong often. however I did do a search on infected mushroom due to someones thread and am listening to: http://www.underave.net/muziq/Yahel_&_Infected_Mushroom_live_@_Japan_%5bGOA%5d.mp3 right now and I find it rather nifty.
cool! i've always been a fan of infected mushroom...i updated my previous post to include some of my fav artists...i could never name all of them but theres a small list of what i could think of right now
My favorite artist is BT, he is very pleasant to listen and he covers differant sub-genres of EDM. To hear one of his albums dosent do it, you have to hear all of them because there all differant in my opinion.
Mmm. Electronica. Anybody into electronic grindcore? Experimental stuff.. the berzerker's a good example. That stuff blows my mind.
Hey guys, do me a favor. Check out my new album at http://www.cdbaby.com/herringdaniel and let me know what you honestly think of it. There are also links to others from my page. Thanks.
personaly i like more industrail stuff, tho i love the faint i dont know if they count,i like velvet acid christ, throbbing gristle, alien sex fiend, toxic coma, the new deal, infected mushroom is great stuff,i cant think of alot right now but theres alot more
The berzeker is really funny. Have you ever heard La Peste ? Liza N'Eliaz? I like acid stuff like gamble 202, or old industrial strengh (zenith, lunatic aylum..) But Liza for ever !!!
Voodoo child is really good. I heard about them on iTunes and downloaded a few of their songs, by winning some free downloads off that pepsi cap contest a couple years ago. The album is called "Baby Monkey" by Voodoo Child. Check out this song Strings by Voodoo Child on their album "Baby Monkey" Strings - Starts out with a technoish beat, then adds in the background some symphony type synths, then they add in some really cool effects, I think its an arpeggiator, you just have to hear it for yourself. Very cool song structure. Let me know if you can't find it, I might help you out ;-)
I'm absolutely head over heels for industrial. That shit makes me want to get naked and hump the nearest warm-blooded creature.
