Yes, a few years ago I was in a therapy group and one of the members had had ECT. She found it helpful for her severe depression (which was not responding to medication). Her only complaint about ECT was the loss of some memories. Fortunately, the ECT of today is nothing like the ECT that, for example, Sylvia Plath experienced and wrote about.

I think James Taylor, the folk singer had that when he was being treated for depression. I think it's an outdated and innefeective technique.
