Here's my first stab at poetry that's not Poe-inspired. A.k.a., it's mildly perky. Reviews are always nice. :)

    Effulgent Meadow
    Chelsea M. Hathaway

    As the colors spin around

    Listen for that subtle sound

    Can you hear it, dear?

    Are you near it, dear?

    Joyous laughter, I have found

With my ear pressed to the ground.

    Can you join me, dear?

    Would you join me, dear?

The sprawling marshes, I’ve walked ‘round

    Many secrets I have found.

    Will I tell you, dear?

    Should I tell you, dear?

    Heightened senses, they’re abound!

    Now this I shall propound:

    Can they see it, dear?

    Can they feel it, dear?

The state of things does confound

How much longer shall this be around?

    Can you tell me, dear?

    How much longer, dear?
