In his Dress to Kill stand-up routine, Eddie Izzard quipped, "There's no smoking in bars, soon there'll be no drinking and no talking."

    Dateline:Texas (that's right folks, Dubya's home state)

Police in Texas have launched an aggressive new program, arresting people for being drunk in bars. Ostensibly, the program aims to reduce drunk driving by arresting people before they commit a crime (holy Minority Report, Batman). Over 2,200 people have been arrested to date. Among them are people who were arrested for drinking in the bar of the hotel where they were staying.

"I didn't want to be drunk in public, I wanted to be drunk in a bar, which is perfectly legal." -Ron White, Texan and comedian

    Guess again, Ron.

A long time tourism tag line for Texas says "Texas, it's like a whole other country." Yeah, a whole other country comes readily to mind. If anyone in the Texas legislature is reading, I've got a great idea for a new state anthem for y'all. It goes a little something like "Texas, Texas, uber ales..." It's a catchy little ditty, based on a tune that was huge in Europe in the 30's and 40's. Give me a call, we'll talk.
