Any reason why Americans seem to find this odd? I've told a few friends about how one of my favourite meats is moose and they think I'm joking!

It really is delicious, you know...

I would be so down to eat some Moose. I think you'll find plenty of Americans would eat moose. I've eaten squirell before, I'll eat moose.

What does squirrel taste like? Moose tastes like sweet, tender beef. Kinda of like those slices of sweetened beef that you find in Asian food, except that's how it naturally tastes.

well i'm a yankee and i love moose!
i was raised in minnesota the first 10 years of my life and, the american people in those northern states, love their moose every bit as much as canadians do.

i now live in texas and, yes, people down here think it's strange.
how could anyone want to eat bullwinkel!

    I like moose too

when I was younger it was quite common in the fall to have a moose hanging in the yard and my Dad and Grandpa butchering quarters on the truck tailgate

I've tried it in sausage, but I am freaked out by thinking to much about where my meat came from.
I would probably say I liked it if I was used to eating it.

i would assume it's because a large chunk of the US doesn't have mooses (that can't be the correct pluralization...), so they aren't eaten that commonly. i don't think anyone really finds it odd though.

If I eat it I prefer it is not wild game as then it has a swampy taste. I can get it from a vendor that raises them for meat and the it tastes better.

If wild, I don't mind sausages or ground but not roasts or steaks.

Moose is far better than the supermarket lunch meat and hot dogs that Americans eat.

But, people in the U.S. tend to not eat things if they haven't been sanctioned by corporate America and made to look good in advertisements.

Just consider how much Sunny Delight garbage is sold each year with fancy commercials with lots of yellow color, music, and dancing teens (plus the mother is always in the video somewhere sanctioning it). :)

I'm like 90% the plural of moose is moose.

And yeah, you're right. It'd be like someone telling you their favorite food was penguin. It's not like I have wild moose here.

    Are they vicious?

They are rather tricky when rutting. I live right near Larose Forrest and we have moose around all the time. It is not unusual for us to see them over the fence of the yard. It is not an animal you approach as they are not predictable. At night you have t be really careful driving as if you hit one, usually not only is the car a goner but usually people are badly injured.

I have had very delicious wild Moose-meat at times and other times barely edible...
I would have to say when it's good, it's at the top of my favorite wild meats list.
Like all wild meat, it depends on what they have been eating, time of year, sex and other things.
Moose that have been eating a lot of willow in the river bottom tend to get that nasty swampy taste.
    Lotta meat on a Moose...
better have plenty of freezer space before you harvest one!
