Heeeey everyone! I'm thinking about moving down into Savannah starting in September or October, and I haven't gone to college yet. I was wondering if there are any suggestions as to wear I should work. I've thought about being a tour guide... Also, is there any where to shower for free?
where you should work? man there is about a million places to work here. What kind of a job are you trying to find? um showering for free? I dunno about that man.
Rivals New York City's in size. March. Traditional "Kirkin' o' th' Tartans." Richmond Hill; early May.
Old post, but it seems like an ongoing interest, so I will do a little hocus pocus and bring it back to life POOF Savannah is built with people in mind, squares with greenery everywhere, mild climate, lots of palm trees, bicycle friendly, very historic, especially by the waterfront. I have a couple friends there and they are living by a canal, going boating all the time. If you are not from the Deep South, the heat and humidity may put you off in the summer, but if you can get past that, there's some good living to be had. It is a big enough place to have jobs and fun community events. It has colleges too. The best beaches are down the coast on Cumberland Island, but hey Tybee Beach ain't bad and is only 20 miles east. If you have no money, no friends to stay with and need help getting started in Savannah, the Chatham-Savannah Authority for the Homeless will help you find shelter that is appropriate for your age, gender and circumstances. If you can, it would be good to check out the town for a few days to see if it fits with your life.
Tim, My friends could have lived anywhere and moved to Savannah because it has what they want and they have not looked back. I understand that people are not all looking for the same thing. So, what are you looking for in a town?
I’m guessing “a pulse” There’s laidback country and then there’s traditional (not certain where we fit into modern society but we have an image to uphold) kind of laidback. In truth there was more life in Savannah before the civil war. Hotwater
Are you kidding me? It's a party town! :cheers2: It's a prime weekend destination for people who live in Atlanta. There are going to be entry-level seasonal jobs in the restaurants, bars, and retail businesses along the waterfront. Fall and winter might be tougher than summer. They have a large papermill and major port facilities a mile or two up the river from downtown.
people i've talked to love living in savannah. i'm looking into transferring to the georgia tech savannah campus. also the gulfstream facility there is somewhere i've thought about going to work for a while.. private jets
The weather is great down there until late November. Not as humid as summer and you can still play on the beach or go boating or party in town. Sometimes they take their boats to offshore sand bars and if the coast is clear, the clothes can come off. Even in December there are days where it gets to 70 degrees. After that, follow the sun to south Florida. My friends are not snobs. I know you can find snobs in town, but tell me a town where you won't? There is a definite hip presence in Savannah. People there cherish beauty in architecture and in nature much more than Atlanta and all its concrete and glass. If you have the cool within you, the other cool people will find you soon.
Well then I take it back that certainly rivals the hustle n' bustle of the northeast quadrant, new york city, and the tri-state area Hotwater
Rolling Stones Don't you know the crime rate is going up, up, up, up, up To live in this town you must be tough, tough, tough, tough, tough! You got rats on the west side Bed bugs uptown What a mess this town's in tatters I've been shattered My brain's been battered, splattered all over Manhattan Uh-huh, this town's full of money grabbers Go ahead, bite the Big Apple, don't mind the maggots, huh Shadoobie, my brain's been battered My friends they come around they Flatter, flatter, flatter, flatter, flatter ......... Hotwater
Why don't they drive the west side rats north and let them eat the bed bugs. Then bring in dogs from Brooklyn to get the rats. If the dogs get to be a problem, there are lions at the Bronx Zoo!
