anybody got some info on dylan's harmonicas? what keys were they in, and were they all just 10-holes?
I'm pretty sure he only used 10-hole harmonicas, and he'll probably have used every key at some point. But most of his songs with harmonica played in them tend to be in either G, D and occassionally C. by the way, he also normally used Hohners, which probably have the best tone you can get. I own a few of 'em myself.
a while ago i stumbled upon this http://www.dylanchords.com/harp/harpkeys.htm and while looking for that just now i founde http://www.dylanchords.com/harp/index.htm.
on Bob Dylan there is Song for Woody, and i believe Bob went to go see Woddy on his death bed as well or somethign like that, but yeah--completly off topic i was going to post the key's link that soulrebel had, but he beat me to it-and i am pretty sure he would have used most if not all diatonic [10 hole] harps--also, for most songs, you don't need tabs, cause you can just make stuff up to what sounds good on the harp, and blow along in the tune of the song [what Bob acctually did for the most part]
Yeah but I would take the time to figure out the notes at least. Like for example the harp solo in 'Tangled Up In Blue'. The harp is in A. Go and figure it out it's very easy.
as are most of Dylan's harp solos. his harmonica talents are best shown off on John Wesley Harding, i think.
Arlo Guthrie told a story about when he was 13, Bob Dylan showed up at his house to see Woody, but Woody was in the hospital. They both played harmonica, so they sat around jamming for a little while before going to Woody, and the next week, Dylan was on the radio.
