Banning tobacco ads is one thing, but meat? Yes people should cut down on meat consumption, but I'd rather see public service ads warning people of the dangers of eating too much meat. Seems to me it would accomplish more that way.

Once you are past 50, the lower your cholesterol levels, the greater your chance of dying. Also if you cholesterol levels get too low, the chance of getting cancer goes up as does the chance of getting Alzheimer.

The meat industry is destroying the lives of people in developing countries, family’s of fishermen that go back hundreds of years are now mining salt 12 hours a day to feed their family’s while massive trawlers are in their water scooping up all the fish, the fish are not even for human consumption, they dry the fish and feed it to cows and chickens so people here can scoff McDonald’s and kfc. The only way to put an end to this is not to give the meat industry your money.

Why not just ban all public advertising?

It's not meat consumption, in particular, but consumption, in general, that's fueling the despoilment of the natural environment. The sole purpose of advertising is to get us to buy things we don't need and that we otherwise wouldn't buy.

Commercial advertising is not a universally-protected form of free speech, nor a human right. As the meat-advert ban indicates, it's clearly an infringeable right, so why not go all the way? We'd consume a whole lot less stuff, and see a lot less clutter on our buildings, on bus shelters, and on the sides of our highways. Regardless of local climate, most people can get along nicely in life with no more than 3 pairs of shoes at a time, and none of them have to be Nike, Adidas, or Gucci. How many pairs of shoes are in your closet right now?

Meat is 100 percent biodegradable, as are we humans. Whether we eat it or let it rot, the meat itself has almost no effect on the planet's climate. The meat itself isn't harmful at all. It's excessive consumption and industrial-scale production that's bad, but that's true of everything humans touch.

Meat would be far lower on my list than plastics are as a detriment to healthy people and a healthy Earth.
