Hello, I'm wondering if someone here could help me. My fucking idiot boyfriend got arrested on Friday night and taken in, in the STL area for a DUI and performing an illegal U-Turn. He was driving home from a bar in his friends car, did an illegal U-Turn as he missed a turning and that's when a cop further up the road spotted him. They did a breathalyzer test road-side and his blood alcohol level was 0.12. He was taken in and released after 24 hours (all shaken up after spending time in the big house with other criminals, bless him. I think he was genuinley looking for sympathy from me, as if he'd ever get it - I am still fuming!) I'm basically trying to find out what will happen to him as he seems to have no idea and is burying his head because of the whole ordeal. I know he's had his licence removed temporarily, but what next? I know jail is unlikely as this is his first DUI offense, but I have no idea what to expect. I'm in the UK and he's in Missouri right now, I know when you get caught driving under the influence here, it's very bad news. His only other offence is being caught with alcohol in his car when he was a minor. The drinks were sealed and in his trunk. I'm so fuming at him, he could of killed someone. His so-called friends are being supportive of him and as a result, got mad at me over the weekend because I had no sympathy. Apparently, rich and middle-class white boys have no place in a saint louis jail on a friday night, but I beg to differ, he did after all commit a crime. The cop who arrested him even said "It's no big deal since it's your first DUI offence) but I'm annoyed by this, it only takes one time to kill some poor soul while under the influence, but if I had it my way he would of been in jail all weekend. Luckily nobody got hurt and all I want to know now is what happens next. Could anybody spare some advice? Regards Hurricane :2thumbsup:
he could kill somebody any time he drives, sober or not. be a decent girlfriend and support him in his time of need. not condoning drunk driving, but you're supposed to be his girlfriend, not his mom. i don't know missouri, but here a first dui is just a hefty fine (probably around $500-$1500 depending on the judge) and a license suspension for i think 6 months. but then you wouldn't spend anywhere near 24 hours in jail here, and you would be separated from real criminals, so maybe it will be more strict there. i'm sure he's got a court date coming up pretty soon; you'll find out exactly what he gets then. if he can afford a lawyer it might be a good idea, especially if he was charged with anything other than the dui.
