What does it mean to "drop the mike"? I've never understood that expression. I do hear people using it a lot, from time to time. It usually is used of some celebrity and in some humorous way, like "he really dropped the mike". What does it mean? :gorgeous:
Drop the mic. As in microphone. Like when a person does something really tits and theres nothing else to add, they are done... drop the mic
They don't need to drop the microphone they might break it or cause a loud noise. Simply stopping talking would suffice
Dosnt have the same umph when you just stop talking. Besides then someone else can use the mic. If you drop the mic nobody can retort. Yes they can pick it up but will look like a bitch if they do.
Dropping the mic, I believe, originated from rap battling. When one rapper totally lays the smack down on his rival through rhyming, tearing them a new one. They will often extend their arm out and drop the microphone when done.
