so i drove from here, virginia, to oregon in 3 days and eight hours.

going from VA to St. Louis in one day, St. Louis to Ft. Collins second day Ft. Collins to Boise the next day and Boise to Corvallis the last day.

and then on my way back I drove from Corvallis to Missoula first day Missoula to Rapid City second day Rapid City to St. Louis third day and now I'm back in VA.

I never actually thought I could do this with a 2 year old and dog but I did, and I feel accomplished.

Anyone else ever drive cross country like that? the child is really what made it challenging.

Wow, that is an accomplishment with a 2 year old in tow!

No, we haven't done a lot of driving like that since we've had the kids. The most we've driven is I think 5 hours away.

We flew to Florida with all of the kids a few years back. My oldest was 5, the twins were newly turned 2 year olds. My goodness, that was hell. The twins cried and carried on almost the entire flight down. I was ready to tear my hair out! *laughs*

I'm thinking of driving downtown here real soon for some breakfast.

I went from Arlington VA to Seattleish in 5 days in a 20 foot moving van in the dead of winter, but I'd get a room pretty early in the evening.

Yeah I've never flown anywhere. I don't know if cindy would like that or not. I bet if she had a window seat and could see the clouds it might be ok.

Worst part of the whole drive was in the vast wide opening nothingness she had to pee and there isn't really anywhere to stop so she peed in her car seat, but see i even pulled over to the side of the road so she could squat and pee, no no no she wasn't having anything to do with that whole squat and pee deal.

seattle was freaking awesome! i went there as well.

however you really should try to get a little more. like go to Cali or something, haven't you ever wanted to see more of this country than just oregon and washington?

you are my new hero.

my longest drive was from northern ohio to central florida straight through. i was alone so it was a little boring, but i would rather die of boredom before making that drive with a toddler and a dog. and that was a much shorter drive than yours.

I am amazed that you were able to handle both a two year old and a dog alone! You are now a super mommy to the max!

*giggles* My daughter is more than happy to squat and pee. I remember when I first had her do it. We were at a park and they had no restrooms open, the doors were all locked, so I took her out in the woods, showed her how to do it, and she was good to go. :D

The boys, well, it's even easier for them. Last summer I caught my younger son trying to pee behind the tree in our yard. I told him that peeing outside like that was only for emergency situations when there wasn't a bathroom around. My husband thought it was hilarious. I was mortified. My neighbors are sooo nosey, I swear they watch everything, and I could just imagine them looking out their window watching the kids play outside and seeing one of my sons whip his stuff out and start peeing right there. Oh the horror!

    Oh well.

Yeah, but anyway, we may be taking another plane trip next year. I'm not too worried about it this time because the kids are older now. I think they'll actually enjoy it. Me on the other hand, not so much! ;)

Hahaha, I remember when I was a little kid, peeing outside was so exciting. We spent all day playing during the summer and didn't want to take the time to go back in, so we just peed outside. But the glamor was lost the day the neighbor boy pooped behind a tree and grossed me out to the max. Ahhh...to be 8 again.

for men, peeing outside gets better with age. when you first learn to write in the snow, your bladder can hardly support your initials, but once you've tried it with a belly full of beer, you can sign your name and include a dedication.

it funny actually like when we are in the woods she pees outside great but when we are on the highway even if no one is around, cuz ya know in most places on highway 90 there really isn't anyone around, she just won't do it, she screamed at me to put her back in the car, then she peed in her seat. oh well what can I do?
