Driving while stoned

I don't think this is a repeat thread...
How do you feel about driving while high? I personally never think twice about it, because I don't think it negatively effects my driving. Just wondering what others thought.

 

My cousin drives when he's high and I've ridden with him on numerous occasions. I've ridden while he was high and I was sober and I was comfortable and he drove well.

just makes you more aware of whats going on around you. and i find i drive i slower and stop way farther away then where im supposed too

I've driven stoned more times then i can remeber, and ocasionaly drunk, i dont condone or promote either to anyone, especially somone who second guesses their driving in the first place

i consider myself to be an above average driver, as i've had fairly extensive drivers training, but even then i know that no matter what u may think, u still are IMPAIRED when u are driving stoned, the stupid old excuse that "oh my driving is better, because i pay more attention and am more cautious" is total bullshit, when your mind is on where to score a bag of cheeto's and a cherry cola, it's not on driving.

the main thing for me is, endangering the passengers in your car, if your by yourself fine, so ahead and smash up your car, it's all good, but i cannot stand putting the passengers of my car at an unessacary risk, anyone responsible with their driving will also understand this, beyond anything, smashing up my car, killing myself, etc. Hurting the people who put their trust in me and my car is my first concern.

one last thing, it's stupid to get stoned off your ass and drive somone else's car at risk, IE. Parents, grandparents etc. it's not your car, you may not even be insured while driving it, so why do somthing stupid in somthing thats not yours?

 

Driving while stoned is not a big deal to me... but some people can't handle it, and they are the people that give stoners bad names.

 

why? because they decide that they won't drive while being intoxicated?

i think what she's trying to say is the people who know they can't drive when they are high and do it anyway. then they end up getting into an accident and when people find out that they are high, it gives more fuel to the fire about bad things that stoners do. not everyone is the same though. some drive fine when high. however, you never hear about those so when people find out someone smoked and is driving, it's automatically a bad thing and someone is gonna get hurt and die and thats not always the case.

 

i drive when stoned only when i have to (IE: to go to taco bell or get more weed). i drive fine when i'm stoned, but i tend to get a little paranoid.

 

i don't really mind it, sometimes i get nervous im gonna loose my shit and start busting ass laughign if theres like 5 people up in the car and were just getting our laugh on, but i always hold myself together. i'd probably rather not though, so i can just mellow out.

So what your saying is that the people who just don't like driving a car high are giving the people who drive while stoned a bad rep.

But when you think about it one of the stereotypes for potheads is the fact that they drive while stoned and are considered dangerous yet your driving while stoned, wouldn't that make you the one who gives the non-driving stoners a bad name.

 

People make way too big of a deal about weed (including a lot of stoners). Driving stoned is not that big of a deal. I do it every day with no consequences. Shit, I know people who drive when they're on shrooms, although I don't think I'm gonna try that one anytime too soon.

 

I think it depends on what kind of driving you have to do, the conditions, amount of cars around, passengers, etc. If its just a chill uncomplicated road drive, then I think it's okay, but if you have to do complicated stuff, like navigating through heavy traffic or driving in bad weather, it's not a great idea. There's nothing like driving down a road high, with the radio blasting, the window open, and no real destination in mind!

I love space cruising, all though my parents are pissed off that I do it (and I understand why), but I've driven stoned with friends countless times and even my friends say that i drive like a grade A citizen.
