so the main reason i dont got into town barefoot most of the time is that im driving and have been told by several family members that driving without shoes on is illegal. I really don't think it is illegal but then again SC police are assholes about everything.

    so is it illegal?

so anyone that could answer this for me that would be awesome

the reason im asking is because I treasure my license more than anything because most of my friends have lost theirs already due to tickets and such.
And where i live there isn't a way to get to town unless you can drive. And walking to town isn't an option.

it is not illegal to drive barefoot anywhere in usa. for an excellent source of information regarding the freedom to barefoot, health code myths, go to the "society for barefoot living" website.

keep your feet happy and bare and have a wonderfully barefoot weekend.

    thanks for the advice :)

  4. The information is quite right: I drive barefoot routinely. Driving barefoot is NOT illegal in the U.S.

However, cops are cops (wrong and right), and parents are parents (same deal). So if they say wear shoes, you're stuck. Just know that YOU are right, and they are wrong. If you can persuade them, excellent.

My daughter is a couple years older than you and values her license equally. She also drives barefoot quite often. A safe driver is a safe driver. If you drive safely barefoot, then so much the better.

took me three tries(cried every time too) to get the damn thing i defiantly want to keep it.

my mom stopped trying to tell me what to do the day i turned 18. she was happy about it too. I've never really heard anything from a cop. it was mainly brought up by my grandpa and aunts and uncles because when i was younger i use to drive barefoot and they would all get on to me. I use never wear shoes my feet would be black by the end of the day.

thank you guys for the help

i quite like the idea of being barefoot
    I've always hated shoes tho
and socks too I never wear socks

I never gave into socks lol sorta

I wear socks every now and only then if they are cute or look really cool with an outfit

I remember family members buying me socks for christmas and them asking me to wear them only to show up the next day with no socks still

it might not be illegal,, but an investigation into the cause of an accident, reviling cause to be barefoot. you will have an added lawsuit from someones insurance company..
    might be a rare case..

That's how general practice is in Germany, too. If someone were involved in an accident, and the investigation uncovers that the driver was wearing unsafe or no shoes (unsafe being flip-flops or high heels, which are too unstable to operate the pedals safely - and barefeet being considered as being too weak to apply enough pressure on the brake in case of an emergency), the insurance company might put some blame on the ill-shod or unshod driver.

However, a seasoned barefooter with enough strength of the sole shouldn't have a problem to slam down on the brake with a bare foot (or, in case of those larger pedals on automatic transmission cars with both bare feet).

    Wiggling seasoned toes,

I like to wear shoes driving, thought Ive driven barefoot, I find I have to move my foot to far from right to left without the shoes.. since I dont drive a stick, my left leg is usually curled under me, 1/2 indian sitting..

It's supposed to be a safety issue but I have to say that if I'm wearing sandals or heels on that day, taking them off makes me feel much more in tune with the car and therefore safer.

and i don't understand the whole sandals are a hazard thing while driving. i wear sandals all year round (normally the same pair) and i drive in them all the time i don't feel any difference between wearing sandals compared to wearing shoes while driving.

but then again i am very weird

i also dont understand how women wear heels

I know how to get them on, but I don't know how to walk in them. Or drive, as it happens. :p But, ya know, competitive job prospects out there. Ya do what ya gotta do.

And for me, the fear with flip-flops (don't know about sturdy sandals, as such) is getting the pedal trapped between my foot and the sole.

unless it has be raining generally sandals(even the cheap wal-mart foam ones the ones i wear) won't slip. i've never had an incedent like the one you mentioned happen to me. I also have small feet tho so the peddle is like the size of my foot lol.

...I can wear a 4 year olds sandals if that gives you an example of how small they are

and i can say without a doubt that i've never worn heels i never even attempted to put them on they look way painful
