The fun thing about driving a bug is when I see another bug parked outside of a store or somewhere, I get excited and have to park next to it...
If I see another on the freeway, I tend to follow it.. Bugs are attracted to other bugs.
Today, I spotted two others outside of john's incredible pizza company and I rushed over as fast as I could and parked next to them.
We all finished our pizza in unison then held hands and formed a circle.
Confetti and balloons dropped down on us. We danced and paraded in the streets. We are all so happy to drive bugs!!
Anyone else drive a bug? Mine is the blue one.

My first car was a blue 1977 beetle with a crank sunroof. I loved that car. The body was completely restored but it didn't run for shit.

My favorite vehicle was my jeep wrangler. I miss that because there is the "Jeep wave" between wrangler owners. When you see another wrangler you always wave. I've tried to get that started with my jeep compass that I have now but it's not catching on.

Oh, dont do that, one bug will get the other bug pregnant, then you'll have a whole litter of bugs to watch after

I learned to drive in a '67 Beetle. Cool car. I don't care much for the newer ones though.

I'm sorry, but that is not a Beetle Bug, it's a Golf with a different body.

Here is an unbiased comparison from a journalist invited to test drive the new verses the old:

I agree. I love the old style so much better. I drove a newer bug the other day. My friend has one. It's not the same. My 77 was missing 3rd gearoso I had to get going pretty good in 2nd before I shifted to 4th. Like I said....it was pretty and that's all that matters to a 16 year old.

I used to have a friend with a bug and we rode around in it quite a bit. To be honest I felt incredibly unsafe.

that's cuz crazy people usually drive them..

hmm, I'm actually unsure how safe my car is. I should look into that. I used to always take the bus because the thought of driving freaked me out too much. It still does sometimes when I have realizations of just how fast I'm going.
I used to drive a volvo which is supposed to be a really safe car..

I dont know why but I always hear the word "nazi" in my head with I think of volkwagon bug. Probably cause Hitler helped invent it. Sorry for my negativity. On a lighter note, I really like the Jetta, Passat, Vanagon and Westfalia VW's

For serious. That said, I think I was kinda like that with my last car, I was typically very excited to see one or when a friend had one, and it definitely influenced where I parked if I saw another one in the lot.

It's not just Bugs, but all VW cars. I used to drive a Jetta, and other Jetta and Passat owners in parking lots were constantly wanting to talk to me about how fantastic all VW products were. Lots of waving at traffic lights too. It was like a car cult.

Except when hitler came up with the idea he wanted a car the masses could afford. You know, the working class

Hitler was also right in thinking that grass is green and the sky is blue. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

When I got married in 1970 we had a VW Bug. I learned how to drive standard on that car. I used to love being able to get out and about. I think we had that car because of the cost.
