So today I was told that I had to look like everyone else. The latest dresscode for sixth formers is: Sixth Form Dress Code Years 12 & 13 Boys • Tailored jacket and trousers or suit with a shirt and tie. • Smart shoes Girls • Tailored jacket and dress or skirt or trousers with a shirt or blouse. • Smart shoes Introduction So today I was wearing the purple jacket I had on in my old signature, a beige holey jumper and my new green skirt which looks like this: So, in my opinion, pretty smart. But no, apparently every time someone is hauled up on dresscode my name comes up just because I wear bright colours. And s a compromise I can apparently wear my tops, but I have to go and BUY a pl;ain black skirt, black trousers etc etc and not wear my skirts any more. So I don't know what to do. I could take it to the other extreme, wear all black every day like a beatnik or a goth, or I could ignore what's been said and carry on, I could wear a smart jacket with my skirts or I could do as they say. I only have one day of the week when I can wear my own stuff, and that's reserved for jeans!
sixth formers round here dont have uniform because they say that Sixth formers are treated like adults and thus dont need one. I'd say go goth or beatnik for a little while, just to annoy them and go the whole shabang with make up and whatnot
I went to college and we could wear whatever we wanted - and some people really went for it! I miss college.
I'm annoyed cos our college doesn't do the A levels I want, otherwise I would ahve gone. No other option, it just isn't fair!
Nope, I'm in my school's sixth form, which is a great stinking comprehensive in reality, but the head teacher would have it that it was a state private school... It's ridiculous though, the schools in the next town are rubbish, the local college is crap and the nearest sixth form college is out in bloody cambridge!
I'd weigh out between whether you want good education or freedom to wear what you want. My school didn't allow any kind of clothing besides the strict dress code, even in sixth form. I left after I finished my GCSEs, although I kind of wish I stayed; I've lost alot of my fluency in Welsh.
That really sucks and id never have been able to cope with being treated liek that (infact i couldnt even under 16, but afterwards it would have just been ridiculous) I wore whatever i wanted at college which was often a brighly coloured snug fitting dress...I hate wearing dull clothes. I feel for you, id just have to get out of there! That skirts lovely by the way
My school was very strict with dress codes - even at weekends. But my college was much more relaxed. But I didn't mind the uniform too much.
Hmm, NH college is 50 places down the league tables than KTS, madness. Even the little independent school St. Chris's is above it...
My school had SUCH a ridiculous uniform. Ironically it must have been one of the roughest schools in Britain and was full of drug addicts and bullies, and they never wore proper uniform, yet if i so much as had my stupid stripy tie a bit too low i got a very long lecture about standards. I destest the idea of uniforms, theyre clothes for Gods sake, its not a prison camp
Oh yes, our uniform policy lower down the school is so strict! They ahve infringement cards, you can get them signed for having your tie too low, not long enough, top button undone, shirt untiucked, skirt too short, inappropraitely coloured hair accessories...
I was a bit too good at school, the only real rebelling I did was having my top button undown, tie low and shirt untucked. But I always wore my blazer and badge. I think mine was too traditional, but I like that.
I laugh at the ridiculousness now but i remember back at school it really did feel ever so restrictive and uncomfortable being controlled in such a way. I cant understand it...so much emphasis on meaningless control. Exactly what harm a few hair clips or not having your top button fastened could possibly do i dont know
we have that, but if you walk around with a tech folder (A3) no one can see your shirt. Girls dont have to wear ties and we can have as many hair accessories as we want.
I was a little shit at school. I used to always play truant, or arrive late, and had to be seperated from the majority of my classes in a seperate room. I remember one time when we flooded the toilets and broke the fire alarm. I also used to argue with my English teacher, although I probably owe him alot now.
I'm in big enough trouble as it is for bunking, I thought this as non-compulsory education yet they still phone your bloody parents... Otherwise I'm fairly good...
