i know there's already an inspiration thread, but i want to know - who is your biggest/original inspiration for dreads? try to name just one person, pics are welcome, too. i have come to the realization that my dread inspiration was johnny depp in pirates, even though he didn't ever actually have dreads. i liked the beads and coins in his hair and wanted to be able to decorate my own hair. i put a coin in my hair and wore this headband, and suddenly everyone was calling me jack sparrow, that's when i realized what i had become! it's kinda lame. but i like it, and i think i pull it off, mostly because i'm always hammered. boyfriend is calling me slut sparrow
Jason Momoa, playing Ronan Dex in stargate Atlantis. My idea of a real man, a mans man and a ladies man, and he has the greatest dreads ive ever seen and so my journey began
Saw some random dude who came off of a greyhound bus. I thought his hair was sweet so I grew some dreads
Oddly enough, my inspiration was the violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain. his dreads are a lot longer now, if you care to google him. http://cseries.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/dbr1.jpg
when I first made friends w Vixi I just couldn't believe hair could look that amazingly beautiful. I just think it's so fun to have hair that you can tie pretty trinkets into. Here's some pics of hers that realli inspire me and make me love dreads even more:
Zilla inspired me to go ahead and start on mine. Ain't that right, babeh haha. I keed. I keed......maybe.
16 years ago I was on a trip with other grade 8 kids (hahaha, wow I'm old) and we drove past a vehicle that had this man with long blondy/brown dreads. I thought it looked amazing. I got some other kids to look and I'll never forget that one girl said "you actually would want those? They are so gross and dirty!". lol I've wanted them every since. I cant believe it took 16 years to start living it. But I'm here now. =)
A friend of my brother had awesome dreads, and probably was the main factor in getting interested in them, I was always very much in awe of them. Of the dreads that are around online, Humblebee is, and still is the biggest inspiration for me, I love her dreads.... Sorry Zilla that was two people.
I thought my head was an oblong shape and that only dreads would suit me...I was right. I wanna post some pics of the old fro, but the embarrassment is too much...
Dreads inspired me to get dreads. I wondered what the hell they were "made of", did some Googling, thought that getting dreads made an awesome amount of sense, and did it
One day when I was 18 I decided I was gonna grow dreads. A year later I did. Normal hair sucks after having dreads.
