Wow, this is gettting confusing. :)

Ok, why has getting dreads, and maintaing dreads become so difficult? As far as I always knew, many people liked the idea of getting dreads because it was easy to look after! So, if I was a newbie, I'd be soooo confused. There's all sorts of info out there from you have to this, that and everything else under the sun. Now don't get me wrong, alot of the info that I read here and on other sites are great, but really, it's getting a bit too much! Use a certain shampoo, don't use that, using sea salt on your dreads, wool rubbing(!!),how often to wash, should I tie them up when I sleep, ahhh, there's too many to remember.

If you have dreads, leave them to grow! Simple. No, you don't need to do anything fancy to them, they will mature, just like we do ( well some of us, my hubby may take a bit longer. hehe) Am I alone on this or is there other dready heads out there that feel the same way? Maybe I'm wrong, it does take alot of maintence for dreads, I must be one of the lucky ones.

its simple... the only thing i go out of my way to do is use shampoo that doesn't have crap it it (and it leaves them notacibly lighter and tangly). aside from that its just letting TIME go bye and occasionally ripping them apart. no funny business. im 7 months deep and will admit that for a while i tried to keep em tidy, but in the end... well, they do what THEY need to do on their own.

    had mine nearly 18 years
at 1st i used whatever shampoo and conditioners i had
started using residue free maybe a year ago (and really liked how much lighter and cleaner they were)
ive never done much of anythingt but seperating em..and occassionaly playin with em,..

its not complicated, i think i spend maybe an houyr a week washing em..and 2-3 min a week seperating em...

    pretty simple really

yeah i agree, it is simple. I just find it so strange that some people go to extremes! I love the fact that all I do is wash my dreads and seperate them if they need it.

I agree! After reading so much stuff, I sometimes feel like I should be doing more... but I just wash about once a week, and seperate them if they need it when wet. Although palm rolling may help with the crazy lumps.. but I love how wild they are. It is a journey, and letting my hair do what it wants is part of that, for me anyways.
