about a week ago i was grinding some steel with my wire wheel, bent over a lil to close to the spinning wheel and WHAM! got two of my dreaddies caught right behind the wire cup and grinder, lucky the auto shut off worked, other wise my left eye and half my face woulda been ripped off. But unfortunatley the 2 victims had to be ripped in half, couldnt untangle them from the grinder, and it was really heavy holding it with one hand and tryin to save my hair with the other{ plus the fuckin wire was sticking me in my face} my dreads were 20 inches long , now they are about 12.. kinda sucks .looks retarded haveing a bunch of long ones and then 2 short ones right in the mix, but oh well, at least i saved most of them, the ends are a lil frizzed out lookin, but they seem to be doing fine, as soon as i can get my printer working i will post picks of my damaged lil buddies, but from what i hear, its not the size that matters, its how you use them!! lol, just wondering if anyone else has had any accidents with there dreaddies and what was there outcome, should get some interesting stories outa this post!!!! good day to all

Not yet, touch wood, but it's only a matter of time for me TBH. It's be something similar I imagine, or i'll set them on fire.

    !?!?!!?!?!?!!!!!!!!

    That sounds awful.
I would have probably freaked out and died.

I haven't had any accidents....but my hair does get caught on a lot if things when I am waling about, and I end up looking like a fool.

but I am used to that :)

Maybe people should consider tying them back. You are super lucky the machine turned off, I'd be more cautious next time. I wanna see what it looks like now!! :p

my last set had quite a few really shorties in the mix. loose hairs i would dread up and have like a little 3 or 4 inch dread with the rest like a foot and a half. i thought they added character. i liked em. this set i had a few super thin ones that were much shorter then the rest but they all got sucked into normal dreads. i have one right now that has a little 2mm thick tail thats about 2 inches long right in the middle. i dreaded up loose hairs but it didnt get sucked in, it just stayed sticking out. i think its my fav dread.

but the worst thats happened to me was i put a pair of sunglasses ontop of my head like you do when it gets cloudy or you go inside. well the nose rests got super tangled into my dreads. the tangle was spread through about 4 dreads and it took my friend about 45 minutes of putting me through pain to get them out. now i dont rest my glasses ontop of my head anymore.

I ALWAYS tie my hair back and usually put a bandana on while using power tools. I'm pretty cautious about things that might cause extreme bodily harm.

I was using an angle grinder to strip the mortar out for re-pointing once and I was stood in a corner and not paying a great deal of attention. I twisted the grinder in the joint and it kicked out, bounced off my arm, bounced off the wall, bounced off my arm again and landed on the floor. It just left me with a 2 nasty grazes, but the other day I saw a lad on tv who had hit a grinder off it arm and it had skinned it.

Velcro! I was at the gym a while back and had this stupid looking neck trainer (http://www.exercise-products.net/sh...cx.images-amazon.com/images/I/310VDuyz24L.jpg) and the velcorw actually stuck to my dreads harder then the soft fluffy bit (does this have a name?)

That chap in the pic has the right idea, he's used a towel, but still looks stupid!
