alright i heard that the wax products are really bad for dreadlocks and causes hair loss now i noticed sumtimes when i'd be applying the wax to the dreads a lil bit of hair will be pulled off my scalp, now if u wanna start doing ur dreads without the wax products does this mean u have to untangle ur hair and redo ur dreads all over again because im not realy lookin foward to that id juss wanna stop using that wax nd juss keep doin the my thing which is using my dread head hq deadlock accelerator spray to dry up my hair after i shower with my special dread head hq shampoo my hair been dreaded already for a lili over a month so yeaa..
wash your hair with dish soap and really really really hot water...regually...and you should get most of the wax out... i used wax for a few weeks at first because i didn't know any better and my hair seems mostly fine now..
stop the accelerator too and just use sea salt spray but dont leave it in long rinde it out after a bit find my thread titled the sticky icky wax sticky (which was never stickied like id hoped) and get all that crap out you shouldnt have to undread, but even if you did its worth it to get it out even if it meant starting over use bronners instead of the dreadheadhq bar too..itt may not be that harmful compared to the rest of theyre crap but probly not the best either..and i wouldnt ever suppoert them in any way cause of all the harm they do to the drewad community as a whole
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kodgiJedko0&feature=related i prefer natural dreds... no wax and other bullshit...
how much wax is in your hair? if there's a lot, you're only at a month so you could easily start over if you want. but if it's not that bad, you could just try to get as much remaining wax out as possible, and never use it again. it's up to you....
i dont think much wax is left in my hair because i wash it every 2 days and i squeezed my dreadz to see if therz much wax left but i cant feel it so it probably dryed away or got washed away by now but ill take sum advises and tips you guys provide
just washing wont remove it wax has a 140 degree farenheight melting temp, that is hot enough to blister your scalp so extreme care needs to be applied in removing wax. you need to use as hot of water as possible, but without hburning the scalp, using the deep clkeanse with added orange oil (pure esential orange oil dissolves even glue) and it takes a ton of work scrubbing for hours simply washing will never get much wax out if it removes any wax is the biggest mistake u can make
if youve used the shampoo sofar and no dandruff then its just fine. even though i realy dont like hq anymore i must say there shampoo is the best ive tried sofar. and the accelerater is ok i guess pretty much works as saltwater(atleast tastes like it, YES ive tasted it). but DONT do what instructions say about using it after shower, use it BEFORE, like the same day ure gonna shower or something. if you use it after showers your scalp is gonna get itchy and your hair feel dirty much faster than if you dont use it. and for the wax hothothot water is key. even boil water and soak your dreads in them if you dare(use caution though). then if you have rubber dish gloves put them on(to protect from heat) and squeese out water in a bucket.
Hello to all you knowledgable dudes and dudettes. I am one of those that had unfotunately not seen this wonderful forum before falling long and hard into the KnottyBoy trap. I am hoping to wash out as much wax as possible very soon (which I understand is very hard to do if not near on impossible!) but was wondering what to use to attempt the cleanse. I see someone has said to use dish washing liquid/soap (and very, very hot water!). My wife has even suggested that I use our household stain removal powder which has less ingredients than the dish washing liquid, the ONLY ingredient in that is Sodium Percarbonate and this is meant to be able to shift tar stains from things! I really, really do not want to have to start over again as it would be my 3rd time dreadin in a week or so! (I had a bad Bees Wax experience before and that contained Petroleum). I am eager to hear any opinions or suggestions on how to remove some/most/all of this wax BUT without having to start over again preferably!!!! Peace.
like i said in the othrr threads orange oil disolves most anythoing id try this boil some water add 3/4 cup baking soda 2 tablespoons sea salt 2 of lemon juice 1--20 drops tea tree oil and well for wax id add 20-40 or more drops of pure esential orange oil (not orange juice u want the oil, from an herb/hewalth food store) leave that in as long as u can (before u dip your dreads in though alow it to cool somewhat u want it hot..veryu hot but not boiling if u can keep it above 140 f and be careful to not burn yourself thats best alternate that with bronners with orange oil added but with the bronners scrub like crazy trying to work it in deep (also should be hot as u can) u may have to do this many times over a week or 2..wax is not easily removed but if u are agressive u can get alot out if your really rarly in the journey..like a month in or less then by all means dont hesitate to comb em out make sure u get em 100% wax free then start over clean...u will be only sety back a month but your dreads wil;l survive many years longer if u do
Hey soaringeagle man thanks again for the help! I did actually post that earlier question on this thread quite sometime ago and didn't have much luck with it hence the new thread I started, sorry if it looks like I was kinda spamming away, it wasn't intended.....I guess i'm just a bit too eager to get this horrid crap outta my dreads!!! haha. Excellent advice, and imma go and make a start on the de-waxing!
hi, im a new dready and i have a question. i thought i had to use wax in order for my dreads to stay but i really hate this crap n my hair. i tried washing it w dish soap and no luck. it is drivin me crazy. i used hair wax pomade. does anyone have some advice for me. i want this stuff out!!!
very hot water 140 will melt it but will scold ya too so be careful alternate with dr btonners and tyhe deep cleanse with pure esential otange oil added (i think some1 also suggested thyme? look (and maybe bump it) for my thread oh hell i'll find it http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=303589 ook that thread orange oil will help disolve it
Heya! how long u had ur dreads for ? i used to use wax alot (!) the first 6months-1st year or so, and i had mine for 5 years now, im sure the wax are bad for u but i haven't had any problems until now, a few dreads has broken ... (see my pic if u like) i dont know if it's the wax or not cuz i've been bleaching alot too! I hope my hair will forgive me and i will try to care for it better. use bronners and try to moisturize it a bit,,, I dont think u have to worry that much, just try to wash it out, use bronners instead of dreadproducts as "soaringeagle" recommends and i think u will do just fine!
At last I seem to have most if not all of the rancid wax out, thanks to some of you Hip Forumites!! Thanks again ya'll, I will no doubt be posting pics soonly. The journey is truly underway and I must say I am very optimistic at the moment, time to embrace the journey now.
in the fiture dont erespomnd to spam just clickj report post if u respond its harder to clean up the best they can do is blank it out then instead of completely removing the post
