has anyone had dreads or known someone but it never really dreaded for them? im havin everyone saying its not dreading or not going to dread. its dreaded from 2" from roots been 5mths now and the middle are pretty much tight. but they say it'll just grow out. especially my missus she really puts the foot down that my roots will grow out straight mayb cause it looks like it. i've said that's the process, roots are last to dread from reading post here but its giving me doubts. but i'll let my hair grow n see what happens. here are few recent pics
Alot of people talk about things they know nothing about. Also alot of people get frustrated and give up before anything can happen. Alot of other people get in a rush and do everything they can to their hair to speed things up (wax, so called "accelerator", obsessive palmrolling, rubberbands, not washing at all, too much washing......whatever) none of that shit works in the least, and any positive change you do notice is placebo effect. Dreadlocks take patience, lots and lots of time, nothing else. Even backcombing just allows you control over how you cultivate your locks, doesn't really speed much up because inevitably they're eventually going to unravel and lock up how they want anyway. 5 months is NO TIME AT ALL in the world of locks...........if your patient, and just leave your hair alone (do some rippin' to cut down on the congos if you like) it WILL dread, I gurantee it, ALL HAIR WILL LOCK UP GIVEN ENOUGH TIME!! Tell your misses and the other naysayers that locks can take YEARS to mature.......if you have patience, the locks will come...but if you get into a rush, you will be dissappointed.
just give it time. unless someone understands the dreading process, they're bound to say goofy things like that. my daddy still thinks that people with dreads comb their hair backwards every day to get them to stay like that, even after ten years.
lol.. yea i keep telling them in takes time.. and 5 mths isnt long compare to others. im missin my straight hair tho but i wanna wait till i get the full lock even tho it'll take me hopefully another year or so.
I also have (yet another) question. Instead of making a new thread, I figured I'd ask here. Sorry if this at all offends you xjokux. I have one dread in the middle of my part. Like, smack dead in the middle. For one - it just kinda stick out of place, which i'm not too worried about. The part that I'm concerned about is that it's basically split into 2 dreads at the roots. Truth me told, that was the last dread that I did (at almost 4am), and got lazy with it. =X Should I just leave it go, attempt to backcomb the roots (I have a few dreads with really loose roots. Hope they aren't too loose!) or maybe rip in in two? Speaking of, I just noticed that one of the dreads in front is splitting in two... wait, actually threeee (Whaaa!) at the bottom. I keep trying to force it together because it's a nice fatty. >.< I'm pretty sure it's because the way my hair layed before I got dreads.
