    just stop brushing/combing your hair
wash your hair once a week or so
Rub your head with wool now and then
If you want it to happen more quickly you can backcomb but that would be pointless with such short hair.

Get a spray bottle and mix water, sea salt, and lemon juice in it and spray your head with it once a day. This helps the hair dry and lock up. Do this when the sun is out so your head will dry.

yea umm dont use the lemmon juoiice unless you want your hair bleached, le mon jioce in sun acts just like peroxide & will bleach your hair..
dont pick your hair but when u getthat flat bedhead thing goinmg pinch & twist sections ..u dont want to pull apart dreads as they form just keep seperating them....youll get a feel fotrrit just keep seperating areas that seem to want to clump together..you wantto twist clumps that start to form, but also seperate them from the others..so they dont grow into 1 huge 1..
i wiouldnt use the salt spray daily either, every other week mauybe

if you have african hair i think you can just twist it and palm roll it every once in a while, if you want well ordered dreads. wash your hair with a natural soap and wear a wool hat (especially to bed). i bet you could get dreads by just wearing the hat. and dont pick it of course, just rip your dreads apart if necessary.

lol i think all of the above will do ya fine ;) just do what fits comfortably into your daily routine, wether that means true neglect or twisting/rubbing everyday. you will get dreads either way. if you do lots of palm rolling and twisting and do it regularly, your dreads will probably look neater and more uniform. i prefer the messy look, myself :)
oh, and it will really help if you wear a loose wool hat to bed
    good luck!

If your african american it's easier just twist the shit out of them. Keep twisting is the key =] I've twisted my friends hair and his dreads are nice.
